The Receiving Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the efficient and accurate receiving, processing, and distribution of all incoming materials and supplies at the academic medical center. This includes managing a team of receiving handlers, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and maintaining accurate inventory records. This position plays a critical role in supporting the smooth operation of the medical center by ensuring timely delivery of essential supplies to various departments.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Supervisor, Receiving at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily operations of the Receiving team, including scheduling, training and performance evaluations. Prepare and analyze receiving reports and other performance metrics. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in receiving operations.
  • Oversee the receiving, inspection, verification and documentation of all incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing slips. Ensure proper handling and storage of received materials, including temperature-sensitive items and hazardous materials. 
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in shipments, including damaged goods, shortages, and overages. Coordinate with vendors and internal departments to resolve delivery issues and expedite critical shipments. Participate in inventory cycle counts and physical inventories.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in the receiving area. Implement and enforce departmental policies and procedures related to receiving, storage, and distribution of materials.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, including Joint Commission standards and OSHA guidelines.Must be proficient in using material handling equipment including pallet jacks, carts and hand trucks.
  • Assist in the Mail Room when necessary.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management principles and practices. Experience with inventory management software and barcode scanning technology.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
  • Minimum of 4 or more years of experience in receiving and inventory control, preferably in a healthcare setting.Previous supervisory experience required.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working conditions: This position requires working in a warehouse environment, which may involve exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and potential hazards. The position may require standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods of time
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

  • Certified Materials Resource Professional (CMRP) certification.

Compensation
Minimum rate of $68,473.60 Annually

The posted rate of pay in this job posting is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of our market-competitive total rewards package.

  • Internal Equity: Compensation is determined in a manner consistent with compensation ranges for similar roles within the organization.
  • Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered.

Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
