Assists the mammography technologist by performing a variety of tasks; such as processing paperwork, preparing processed images for radiologist interpretation and proper storing of the same for safekeeping. Enters computer data, orders, revises and cancels exams. Arranges for films needed to be sent to the Breast Center and then their return. Keeps stock of clerical supplies and helps to maintain neat examination rooms and changing areas. Assists with patients' needs before, during and after the procedure and helps maintain patient flow between the department waiting area and the technologists.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Women Center Imaging Assistant at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Responsible for all aspects of exam orders, patient folders, reports and schedules. Faxes reports. Places reminder calls. Answers telephone calls.
  • Monitors and coordinates flow of patients between waiting rooms and exam rooms. Assists patients in all applicable aspects. Assists technologists as needed within scope of capability. Maintains safe and clean environment for staff and patients. Responsible for department's linen and waiting room.
  • Prepares processed images and paperwork for interpretation. Manages radiologists calls as needed. Proficient in operation of digital workstation.
  • Proficient in all department required useage of Clinstar, PHS, MRS, PACS, HPF computer systems, cd burners and the cyraphone. Responsible for scanning patient data into HPF.
  • Completes e learnings on time. Participates in departmental employee and patient satisfaction initiatives. Participates in outreach and community educational programs. Adheres to Joint Commission regulations.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
  • Basic knowledge of hospital computer systems. Computers. PACS Systems. Digital Mammography review workstation. Cyraphone. CD burner and uploader.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Prior experience in a medical setting.
  • Prior experience in a mammography or radiology setting.

Compensation
Minimum rate of $17.32 Hourly

Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
