The Sup, Physical/ Occupational Therapy (PT, OT) evaluates and treats in-patients and outpatients and supervisors all staff assigned to the in-patient area and out-patient clinic, assists in the orientation process of new staff, and coordinates department schedule with satellite supervisors, respectively.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Supervisor, Physical Therapy/Occupational Therapy at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

• Performs all functions associated with the evaluation of patients for all age groups within the department's responsibility.
  
• Performs all functions associated with the execution of therapeutic treatment for all age groups within the department's responsibility.
  
• Completes all documentation required within the regarded timeline according to department.
  
• Provides information to Manager/Director regarding all issues relation to P.T. / O.T. areas function.
  
• Represents the department as speaker for hospital or community based program.
  
• Provides consultation to staff on complex cases.
  
• Serves as chairperson for department committee or special projects.
  
• Supervises all care given quality and safety, and guides and advises staff accordingly.
  
• Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.) This process includes communicating with the patient, parent and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).
  
• Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational & Managerial Competencies.
  
• Supervisor : P.T. / O.T. Outpatient only:
  
  • Oversees Case Management process of Worker's Comp Track.
    
  • Supervises the utilization review program for Medicare patients and provides guidance for appeal, as necessary.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Graduation from an accredited physical therapy school or occupational therapy school.
• Minimum 3 years clinical experience.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

• Physical Therapist License or Occupational Therapist License.
• AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.

• Regular contact with Medical Center personnel, patients and visitors.

Working Conditions:

• Lifts a minimum of 50 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 100 lbs. and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day.
