The Project Manager, School of Medicine is responsible for managing projects of various size and scope related to the operations of the department. This role oversees and implements all aspects of project management assignments and related duties to support the department.

This is a Full Time position for Student Affairs and Wellbeing department with the School of Medicine. 

This is a hybrid position - first 90 days will be fully onsite in Nutley for orientation to the school.   After 90 days, it will be 3 days onsite in Nutley and 2 days remote. 


This position will help optimize the implementation of systems needed to support the continued growth of HMSOM, specifically the Office of Student Affairs and Wellbeing.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Project Manager, SOM at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Develops and implements large and small-scale projects, actively participates in all phases of the project life cycle including but not limited to project scoping and prioritization and identification of all stakeholders; Determines scope and size of a project and stakeholder requirements for each stage or aspect of the project; Develops and exercises scope change control; completes project charter and obtains approval from all stakeholders. 
  • Manages, identifies, and assesses potential risks to the success of projects and implements strategies to reduce those risks. Prepares high level presentations and reports showing project status and results.
  • Develops, maintains and monitors a detailed project schedule which lists all operational and cross-unit projects within the department. Tracks activities against the plan, provides regular and accurate updates as appropriate, revising through formal change control as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates effective mediation, negotiation, communication and presentation skills; Applies specific professional expertise and training to promote decision-making and facilitate issue resolution.
  • Establishs and oversees project expenditures and budgets; Works with financial stakeholders to ensure that the project remains within financial and regulatory guidelines.
  • Develops operational procedures and work flows, including those related to cross-departmental projects.
  • Manages platforms including but not limited to those related to client/stakeholder engagement and general operations.
  • Researches and creates presentations to support strategic and operational initiatives on behalf of leadership.
  • Assists leadership with quality reviews of programs and initiatives. 
  • Gathers, synthesizes and consolidates materials for distribution to internal and external stakeholders or assists with the same.
  • Collaborates with leadership, as a subject matter expert in the collection and analysis of data to assess impact in relation to the department's vision and mission.
  • Achieves operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations, and preparing and completing action plans.
  • Participates in measurement activities required to report on project effectiveness, value capture or other outcomes and success measurements, when necessary. 
  • Performs project closeout, including Lessons Learned activity.
  • Attends meetings and represents the department as needed. 
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with colleagues and others contacted in the course of work.
  • Responds to sensitive matters and/or situations with discretion, tact, and confidentiality. 18. Prepares data for the annual report of the department.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Master's degree in business administration or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 or more years of experience. 
  • Experience in project management.
  • Knowledge of project management platforms.
  • Strong research and/or internet search tool skills.
  • Strong project management skills; ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate projects in an academic setting.
  • Excellent time-management, organization, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to utilize critical thinking skills in making decisions that support the mission, vision, values and goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Experience in large, multi-location, complex business processes. 
  • Experience in Higher Education.
  • Experience with Asana.

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

  • Certified Associate in Project Management or Project Management Professional Certification. 
  • Certification in Lean Six-Sigma Processes or Six Sigma Lean Black Belt Professional.

Compensation
Starting at $93,674.88 Annually

HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members. The posted rate of pay in this job posting is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of our market-competitive total rewards package.

The starting rate of pay is provided for informational purposes only and is not a guarantee of a specific offer. Posted hourly rates may be stated as an annual salary in the offer and posted annual salaries may be stated as an hourly rate in the offer, depending on the level and nature of the job duties and credentials of the candidate.   • Labor Market Data: Compensation is benchmarked against market data to ensure competitiveness.
  • Experience: Years of relevant work experience.
  • Education and Certifications: Level of education attained, including specialized certifications, credentials, completed apprenticeship programs or advanced training.
  • Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in relevant skills and competencies.
  • Geographic Location: Cost of living and market rates for the specific location.
  • Internal Equity: Compensation is determined in a manner consistent with compensation ranges for similar roles within the organization.
  • Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered.

Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
