The Simulation Program Manager (SIM PM) will operationally manage the Simulation Center, as well as oversee the Longitudinal Clinical Placement (LCP) program. This role will oversee the scheduling, equipment, and policies of the SIM Center, as well as provide support, both operationally and technically, to the rest of the SIM center team. The SIM PM will also participate in the development, implementation, evaluation and enhancement of the School of Medicine's Longitudinal Clinical Preceptorship experience as part of the clinical skills curriculum including the transitional clerkship. Oversee and implement the student scheduling and communications as well as the preceptor communications functioning as the first-line contact to students, faculty, preceptors, sites and school administration for any concerns or questions related to the preceptorship.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Simulation Program Manager (SIM PM) at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Work closely with SIM Leaders to manage the SIM center schedule and resolve any conflicts amongst the multiple tenants. 
  • Develop, update, and revise operations policies and standard operating procedures as needed.
  • Oversee the use and operations of the SIM Center including exam labs, skills labs, and SIM Center equipment. 
  • Provide support and guidance and leadership to the SIM Techs.
  • Serve as primary liaison with SHU IT and BLine with any networking issues. 
  • Provides educational and technical support to staff and students to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of simulation activities.
  • Maintain and create relationships with internal and external vendors, and oversight of warranties pertaining to clinical, manikin, and procedural equipment.
  • Work closely with the SIM Admin on inventory management.
  • Responsible for providing overall oversight for the development, implementation, monitoring and enhancement of all operational elements of the students LCP experiences across Phase 1 of the curriculum including the Transitional Clerkship timeframe just before the Clerkship experiences begin for the students in the field. 
  • Work closely with the Office of Faculty and the Clinical Skills team to plan, operate, and evaluate student experiences during their LCP experiences. 
  • Responsible for facilitating the recruitment of and relationship building with prospective and active clinical preceptors in collaboration with the Office of Faculty, the hospital leadership, SOM leadership and community leaders. 
  • Independently coordinate assignments, schedules and reporting of student experiences in all phases of the LCP program, and responsible for the distribution and communication of the aforementioned items to students and faculty in the program.
  • Serves as the primary resource to students in resolving scheduling and preceptor challenges.
  • Oversee and manage communications with faculty, students, standardized patients, community physicians and administration. The Manager must demonstrate effective written and verbal communication, work collaboratively with faculty, staff, community physicians and students at SOM and members of the other colleges on campus.
  • Assist in ensuring implementation, adherence, monitoring, and continuous improvement of all policies and procedures related to the curriculum, including those regarding safety and operations. 
  • Responsible for the scheduling of the LCP preceptor visits which includes updating student enrollment numbers, preceptor matching, and all other necessary clinical site compliance requirements, including student credentialing. 
  • Manages the preparation and processing of evaluation reports according to the SOM's Curriculum Management Plan and related SOM Policies - as related to students, faculty, other partners, and LCP preceptor visits.
  • Manages and maintains student performance data (grades, competency assessments, and other information) and provides the Office of Medical Education with said data in the form of reports, spreadsheets, and any other requested reporting tools.
  • Responsible for generating compliance reports related to policies. 
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

 

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Must be able to establish, implement and operationalize processes and apply a system-based approach.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace skills is essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication to manage all daily communication as well as documents and reports regarding administrative aspects of the clerkship curriculum.
  • Must be adept at multitasking, keeping extremely organized and detailed
  • Must have ability to work independently with limited supervision in a leadership capacity for the Clinical Skills team.

Compensation
Minimum rate of $97,011.20 Annually

HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members. The posted rate of pay in this job posting is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of our market-competitive total rewards package.

  • Internal Equity: Compensation is determined in a manner consistent with compensation ranges for similar roles within the organization.
  • Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered.

Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
