Under the direction of the Senior Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Wellbeing, the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and Wellbeing is responsible for the oversight of all students academic progress including the follow up with all students on remediation, those repeating courses or components of courses. Student Mistreatment issues and Title IX responsibilities are also overseen by the Assistant Dean. This role must be able to collaborate with all offices in the School of Medicine to support student learning outcomes and institutional effectiveness.

Responsibilities
A day in the life of an Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and Wellbeing at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
- Provides overall strategy, structure, guidance, and leadership for the effective planning, implementation, and functioning of services that support students who are remediating and struggling in their success in the academic program.
- Develops and implements standards, programs, policies and procedures consistent with school requirements and needs.
- Serves as a principal contact for the Office of Student Affairs and Wellbeing and the chairs of the medical education committees, and answers questions about procedures and policies.
- Reports to the Student Performance Review Committee (SPRC) on academic progress of all students
- Conducts ongoing assessment and reporting on programmatic and student learning outcomes and impact of the Office of Student Affairs and Wellbeing services.
- Oversees the administration and management of academic and non-academic violations of the Student Code of Academic and Professional Integrity.
- Oversees the Title IX and student mistreatment coordinator for the HMSOM and establishes policies and procedures to support the responsibilities of this role.
- Maintains strong connections with campus offices including library, health services, accessibility services, etc. to connect students to appropriate resources.
- Serve as a co-collaborator on critical student need areas such as accessibility, wellness, conduct, psychological services, and identifying and responding to students of concern and creating a community of care.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- MD/DO or PhD in Education, Higher Education Administration, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or other tertiary educational administration field.
- Minimum of 3+ years in higher education administration and has a passion for working with students.
- Experience in undergraduate or graduate medical education.
- Experience supervising educational professionals serving students.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience in higher education support services (academic, enrollment knowledge or services, disability or wellness services).
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced dynamic environment and has attention to detail.
- An understanding of, ability to demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, cultural, ability, military, religious, sexual orientation and gender identity backgrounds of medical students, faculty and staff.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
- Doctoral Degree in Education, Higher Education Administration, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or another tertiary educational administration field.
- Familiarity with specific medical school resources (e.g. AAMC) and regulations: State, Federal, and LCME.
- Experience with remediation strategies specific to undergraduate medical education.

Compensation
Minimum rate of $214,240 Annually
HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members. The posted rate of pay in this job posting is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of our market-competitive total rewards package.

- Geographic Location: Cost of living and market rates for the specific location.
- Internal Equity: Compensation is determined in a manner consistent with compensation ranges for similar roles within the organization.
- Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered.
Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
