Responsibilities

The Research Education Consultant is the designated nurse responsible for the support and education of high quality clinical and non-clinical care that is compliant with federal, state and local regulations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, support, development and coordination of research studies, IRB approval, inter professional collaboration, execution of policies & procedures, financial management, growth and the patient and staff experience. This role also supports the department of Organizational Development and all activities as delegated by Director.

 

  • Serves as a resource for all required educational programs according to TJC, CMS and DOH standards to meet the ongoing training and development needs of hospital staff. Regularly updates staff knowledge of techniques and regulations appropriate to the ages of patients served.
  • Designs educational programs, course syllabus, testing materials, evaluation tools using adult learning principles.
  • Plans and conducts continuing education programs for staff and management as needed.
  • Tracks attendance and program evaluation records for all educational courses per regulatory guidelines.
  • Participates in hospital wide committees representing Education and consults with Leaders on educational issues, opportunities and facilitates planned education.
  • Serves as Chair or Co-Chair of the Nursing Research Council and all associated activities.
  • Facilitates evidence-based nursing research on site and works with nurses on the development, implementation, monitoring and documentation of studies or projects, including IRB approval when required.
  • Serves as the organization's liaison for IRB submission and approval or as a member as delegated.
  • Facilitates, coordinates, develops exemplars and serves as a resource for the Magnet Program Director.
  • Participates in department activities, programs and projects as delegated by the Director.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

 

  • Current RN license registered in the State of New Jersey
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a RN

 

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Master's Degree, DNP & Certification
  • CPR instructor
  • Teaching and research experience preferred

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • Current RN license registered in the State of New Jersey
