The Coordinator, Breast Center provides services for patients in the breast center. Supervises stereotactic biopsy, needle localization, ultrasound aspiration, core biopsies, patient flow and operational protocols of breast center.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Breast Center Coordinator at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Facilitates efficient patient flow through Palisades Medical Center (PMC) Breast Center.
  • Provides and educates patients on pre and post procedure instructions.
  • Initiates contact with patients and introduces navigation programs and role at time of suspicious diagnostic findings. Under the direction of the Radiologist, communicates abnormal findings and recommendations to referring physicians and assists in facilitating patient's care and treatment plan within the Medical Center.
  • Arranges and coordinates patient's appointments for procedures such as; stereotactic biopsies, needle localizations, ultrasound aspiration and core biopsies, and for consultations with specialists.
  • Obtains a brief medical history from patients who are scheduled for procedures, being alert to conditions that may affect a patient's ability to physically or emotionally tolerate the procedure. Informs radiologist and technologist of special circumstances' such as a patient taking an anticoagulant or if highly anxious.
  • Consults referring physicians for a care plan when a patient is taking anticoagulant medication and needs a biopsy and will coordinate ordering of lab studies (PT,INR) prior to scheduled biopsy.
  • Conducts outreach initiatives to the community, referring physicians, and other medical professionals
  • Develops and revises patient educational materials and provides staff and community education.
  • Ensures reporting is in place to demonstrate program outcomes and support performance improvement activities.
  • Establishes algorithms, documents, and formalized processes that adhere to best practices in relevant care pathways.
  • Participates in professional growth and development opportunities by attending various meetings, conferences and courses.
  • Responds to the physical demands required for patients with physical limitations.
  • Performs all activities with a patient focused attitude and incorporates customer service in every aspect of related duties.
  • Assists with statistics and reporting of pertinent information for the breast center.
  • Assists interdisciplinary team in establishing and conducting continuous tumor board meetings.
  • Assists with administrative duties as needed.
  • Contacts physicians regarding patient histories, clearances and required medical information.
  • Checks emergency supplies and code equipment for proper function and updated supplies. Maintains appropriate inventory of supplies and orders as needed.
  • Participates in hospital committees, as needed. Attends staff meetings; provides educational programs, as needed for breast center staff.
  • Complies with infection control and safety procedures.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Graduate of accredited nursing program.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Google Suite platforms.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Prior experience and minimum of 5 years' of experience in hospital practice or related setting.
  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years' of leadership or project management experience.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License.
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.

Compensation
Minimum rate of $97,011.20 Annually

HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members. The posted rate of pay in this job posting is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of our market-competitive total rewards package.

The starting rate of pay is provided for informational purposes only and is not a guarantee of a specific offer. Posted hourly rates may be stated as an annual salary in the offer and posted annual salaries may be stated as an hourly rate in the offer, depending on the level and nature of the job duties and credentials of the candidate.   • Experience: Years of relevant work experience.

  • Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in relevant skills and competencies.
  • Geographic Location: Cost of living and market rates for the specific location.
  • Internal Equity: Compensation is determined in a manner consistent with compensation ranges for similar roles within the organization.
  • Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered.

Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.

In addition to our compensation for full-time and part-time (20+ hours/week) job positions, HMH offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits.
