Under the direction of the Oncology CTS (Care Transformation Services) and local leadership, the Dir, Site Oncology directs and oversees administrative, operational, and financial operations for the inpatient, infusion and radiation oncology departments. The Dir, Site Oncology is responsible for the oncology service line development, implementation, and integration across the HMH network. Effectively works across departments and the HMH network to efficiently produce outcomes. Ensures the department remains compliant with all state and national guidelines and licensure requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Aligns with hospital and Oncology CTS strategic goals to develop and implement initiatives that support current and future growth of cancer services. 
  • Maintains a current working knowledge of all aspects (including clinical and business) of the service line. Demonstrates this knowledge through leadership, innovation and collaboration. 
  • Manages the day to day operations, including clinical and administrative support staff of all aforementioned oncology areas to maintain the highest levels of patient, physician and team member satisfaction. 
  • Tracks and trends outcome measures. Identifies opportunities and leads efforts for improvement to achieve best demonstrated practice. 
  • Organizes, plans and directs care management activities consistent and in compliance with accrediting/regulatory bodies to include (but not limited to) Joint Commission, NAPBC, ACoS, ACRO or ACR, NJDOH, NJDEP. 
  • Interfaces with leadership at various levels of the organization. Establishes strong working relationships throughout the network to coordinate business/financial objectives and activities. 
  • Oversees the development, maintenance and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Manages and/or assists in the recruitment, development and supervision of team members in all aforementioned areas. Creates and sustains an environment that fosters team member engagement. Establishes clear objectives tied to department and organizational strategic goals. Coaches, counsels and evaluates performance of direct reports. 
  • Completion of monthly and time sensitive reports/business plans outlining unit performance to target, budget and to report on and support initiatives, projected goals and objectives. 
  • Tracking, analysis, and reporting of relevant data and metrics, including identification of opportunities, obstacles and potential market developments which will drive unit operation and strategy development. 
  • Involved in the development and/or management of budget for assigned areas. In collaboration with local leadership and Oncology CTS, responsible for participating in technology assessments. 
  • Regularly monitors relevant key financial indicators and performance metrics, modifying business activities where needed in response to changing financial situations. Responsible for preparing capital and operational budgets. 
  • In collaboration with the Marketing and Physician liaison teams, supports and assists with the development of advertising and marketing plans and assists with implementation and efforts to raise funds to support HMH oncology and women's imaging services. Presents pertinent marketing strategies and assists with collecting metrics. Maintains awareness of opinions of customers and incorporates research and feedback in marketing strategies. 
  • Establishes and maintains good rapport with various public constituencies including community advisory committees, state and county officials, public advocates, community hospitals, community physicians, the medical school, managed care companies, etc. Understands relevant issues affecting service line and effectively promotes HMH position. Uses information gained through relationships to advance HMH's strategic position through identification of opportunities and/or threats. Acts immediately to address problems or seize opportunities. 
  • Function as a liaison between the aforementioned areas, the community, and represent the services at community events, physician outreach, onboarding and promotion of services. 
  • Actively participates on committees as assigned. 
  • RMC Specific Responsibilities: Oversight of Women's Center and applicable responsibilities. 
  • SOMC Specific Responsibilities: Excludes oversight of the inpatient oncology unit. 
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned. 
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum 5 years direct oncology management/leadership experience

 

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Master's Degree or MBA 

 

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

  • RN or ARRT

Compensation
Minimum rate of $148,262.40 Annually

The posted rate of pay in this job posting is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of our market-competitive total rewards package.

  • Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in relevant skills and competencies.
  • Geographic Location: Cost of living and market rates for the specific location.
  • Internal Equity: Compensation is determined in a manner consistent with compensation ranges for similar roles within the organization.
  • Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered.

Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
