The Registered Dietician Educator coordinates and conducts community health education on a variety of topics to targeted audiences. Conducts community health screenings to targeted audiences. Participates in health fairs and other events as required.

As a member of our team, you will help redefine healthcare accessibility, providing world-class, convenient care for people traveling throughout the Northeast, including New York City, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C. This state-of-the-art, 60,000-square-foot facility will offer a wide array of services, including primary care, urgent care, advanced imaging, and specialists. You will be joining a visionary project that establishes a new standard for healthcare delivery in suburban areas.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Registered Dietician Educator at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Maintains accurate class attendance and submits both attendance records and instructor sign in at the close of the series or when requested by the department coordinating staff. Takes roll 95% of the time and turns complete attendance and sign in records.
  • Work closely with the RNs to collaborate on patients` outcomes.
  • Work within the ADA and Joslin parameters, meeting patient focused goals and practice goals that will support our ADA accreditation.
  • Timely documentation in the client's chart using PDMR (S.O.A.P.) format 95% of the time. Documents client progress in chart as required in program protocol. Documents incidents that occur during class or program and uses good judgment in handling them to reduce harmful impact on individuals and the organization. All client progress documentation is completed in a timely manner as required by program policy 95% of the time. All occurrences should be documented on the same day in the correct form. Proper procedure for handling occurrences should always be followed.
  • Offers opportunities to improve existing programs and/or suggests new programming. At least one improvement in writing or verbalized at staff meetings each year.
  • Provides private teaching and counseling sessions as part of program protocol (i.e., medical nutrition information, behavioral techniques) or at client request. Available within 2 weeks to meet with the client. Keeps appointment.
  • Teaches class or series as assigned by Director or designated Coordinator for the program. Arrives one-quarter hour before class begins and is ready to begin teaching at the scheduled time for class to begin. Uses audio-visual aides and/or other teaching tools in a satisfactory manner, based on observation and evaluation conducted by the Director or designee.
  • Receives evaluations of good or better from 95% of participants.
  • Provides accurate education to diabetes clients consistent with AADE7 Self Care Behaviors. Education content includes but is not limited to: A. Overview of the disease of diabetes, the role of insulin and glucose, and their effects on metabolism.
  • 1Promotes patient satisfaction through demonstrated commitment to providing excellent service by interacting in a friendly and helpful manner. Communicates potential patient satisfaction issues to manager and / or comprehensive diabetes team leader.
  • Completes data collection for PI activities as assigned. Assists in the development and implementation of changes in practice as a result of PI outcomes.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor`s of Science in Nutrition or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years in health education or health related experience.
  • Knowledge of teaching principles
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Minimum of two years in leadership, managerial or education capacity.

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

  • Registered Dietician License.
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.

Compensation
Minimum rate of $90,750.40 Annually

HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members. The posted rate of pay in this job posting is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of our market-competitive total rewards package.

The starting rate of pay is provided for informational purposes only and is not a guarantee of a specific offer. Posted hourly rates may be stated as an annual salary in the offer and posted annual salaries may be stated as an hourly rate in the offer, depending on the level and nature of the job duties and credentials of the candidate.   • Labor Market Data: Compensation is benchmarked against market data to ensure competitiveness.
  • Experience: Years of relevant work experience.
  • Education and Certifications: Level of education attained, including specialized certifications, credentials, completed apprenticeship programs or advanced training.
  • Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in relevant skills and competencies.
  • Geographic Location: Cost of living and market rates for the specific location.
  • Internal Equity: Compensation is determined in a manner consistent with compensation ranges for similar roles within the organization.
  • Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered.

Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.

In addition to our compensation for full-time and part-time (20+ hours/week) job positions, HMH offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits.
