Overview
The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) at Bethany Pediatrics is a key provider within our patient-centered, coordinated care model. In this role, you will work collaboratively with the practice team to assess, plan, and implement comprehensive care for our pediatric patients. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong competencies in direct clinical practice, collaborative consultation, and patient/family coaching, all guided by a commitment to research and ethical decision-making.
Practice Hours:The APN's schedule will be comprised of shifts within the following office hours:
- Monday - Thursday:8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
- Friday:8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Saturday:8:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Responsibilities
- Provides medical assessments, treatments, clearances for HMH applicants, team members, constituents and external customers per specific company profiles & or regulatory standards.
- Performs clinical care professionally, serving as a customer advocate and role model.
- Clinical practice accurately reflects NJ Board of Medical Examiners regulations, Code of Ethics, the current NJ Department of Health requirements, and HMH policies and procedures.
- Develops and implements appropriate plan of care.
- Facilitates patient teaching and support programs for patients/ and employers.
- Evaluates current protocols and standards of care for translation of 'best practice' into clinical practice. Supports the development of evidenced-based practice protocols and standards of care that include interventions and treatments to achieve desired outcomes.
- Applies evidence and value-based practices to achieve positive outcomes for patients.
- Provides medication safely and effectively to promote effective recovery from on-the-job injury/illness.
- Prescribes medications and/or recommends over-the-counter medications as appropriate.
- Initiates laboratory tests, immunizations, and diagnostic test/procedures as appropriate according to regulation and scope of practice.
- Demonstrates competent clinical skills with treatment plans using most effective screening test or procedure.
- Collaborates with physician and consults effectively with other members of the health care team.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills interdisciplinary to achieve results.
- Provides accurate, systematic and organized documentation of findings, recommendations/plan and education.
- Independently participates in continuing education and maintains documentation. Develops a personal plan of development in area of clinical expertise, conferring with leader on goals and objectives.
- Provides culturally diverse and educationally appropriate education in relation to patient care/needs.
- Serves as a clinical resource to nursing staff, patients, and other multidisciplinary team members across the continuum to evaluate complex patients and identify appropriate interventions and evaluation of outcomes.
- Participates in policy/procedure reviews for updating with current evidence-based and value-based practices.
- Acts as a resource to staff for addressing clinical, process, and system opportunities for improvement which promote excellence in care and clinical outcomes.
- Promotes a collaborative work environment which supports the organizational mission, behavior expectations and values.
- Promotes innovation within clinical practice by seeking opportunities to bring new clinical knowledge into practice.
- Identifies ethical care issues and coordinates interdisciplinary collaborative meetings to resolve those issues.
- Floats to various clinic locations as needed.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications
Required Education & Experience:
- Graduate of an NLN/AACN accredited nursing program.
- Master's Degree.
- A minimum of three (3) years of professional clinical experience.
- Experience in a relevant patient care setting.
- Maintains clinical competency through ongoing continuing education and clinical practice, as mandated by the Board of Nursing and national certification bodies.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and proficiency with computer platforms.
- Demonstrated critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities.
Required Licenses & Certifications:
- Current and valid NJ State Professional Registered Nurse (RN) License.
- Current and valid NJ Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) License.
- AHA Basic Health Care Life Support (BLS) HCP Certification.
- Valid Driver's License.
