Reiki Master provides Reiki therapy and education to patients, staff and community. The Reiki Master also mentors Reiki students and participates in oversight of annual mandatory education and validation of competencies for the Reiki II practitioners. Communicates accurately and effectively with patients, families and members of the interdependent team. Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Reiki Master Practitioner at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Implements care in a knowledgeable, skillful, consistent and continuous manner, utilizing procedures, protocols, and standards of care.
  • Provides education of staff, patients and their significant others.
  • Mentors Reiki students and participates in oversight of annual mandatory education and validation of competencies for Reiki providers.
  • Accurately documents components of the Reiki process per HUMC policy.
  • Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to evaluate patient outcomes and works to improve the process of patient care delivery within the department and service.
  • Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
  • Graduate of an accredited Usui or Karuna Reiki program.
  • 3 or more years of experience.
  • All Reiki Master Practitioners will demonstrate Reiki competency before beginning practice and annually thereafter. New practitioners will be shadowed during orientation.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • Reiki Master certification

Contacts:

  • Regular contact with Medical Center personnel, patients and visitors.

Working Conditions:

  • Lifts a minimum of 5 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 10 lbs. and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day
