The Med Tech II, Cellular Therapy is responsible for performing and recording a broad range of manual and automated routine laboratory tests, with a familiarity of standard concepts, practices and procedures.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Medical Technician II, Cellular Therapy at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Performs all routine and some more complex procedures and testing in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Perform all quality control (QC) as applicable.
  • Documents all quality control (QC) procedures performed and document corrective action when QC is out of range.
  • Performs routine maintenance on sophisticated instrumentation.
  • Maintains complete and accurate records, i.e., procedure and instrument worksheets and maintenance sheets.
  • Works with the section head/supervisor to processes proficiency testing materials.
  • Calibrates and standardizes sophisticated instrumentation according sectional guidelines.
  • Checks and standardizes reagents.
  • Maintains an adequate level of supplies.
  • Performs all system functions necessary to achieve the timely reporting of results.
  • Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 0 - 3 years of experience.
  • Works under minimal supervision.
  • Beginning working knowledge of subject matter.
  • Handles basic issues and problems.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
  • Previous hospital experience a plus.
  • Previous cellular therapy and/or blood bank experience a plus.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
  • ASCP or equivalent eligible.
Licenses and Certifications Preferred:
  • Certified as MT (ASCP), CLS (NCA), CLT (HEW) or equivalent.
Contacts:
  • All HUMC personnel, industry contacts, outside health agencies and private health care practitioners.
Working Conditions:
  • Lifts a minimum of 40 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 50 lbs. and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day.
