The Clinical Manager of the Surgery Faculty Practices (FP) manages the daily operations of the Department of Surgery Faculty Practices (Breast, Thoracic, Surgical Oncology, etc.) works in collaboration with the Business Manager of the FP, the Director of the Department of Surgery, the Chairman of the Department Surgery and the physicians to organize and direct all clinical components of the Faculty Practices at Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC).

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Clinical Manager of the Surgery Faculty Practices (FP) at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Manages daily operations of the clinics of the surgical practices.
  • Responsible for the supervision and development of all clinical staff, including time and attendance, monitoring mandatory education, coaching, evaluation, and, when necessary, discipline.
  • Assists in the development of budgets, monitors monthly responsibility summaries and corrects and monitors status with the director.
  • Monitors patient satisfaction, patient feedback, and works with staff and physicians to identify and resolve potential problems and continually improve patient process.
  • Monitors NRC scores monthly and works with multidisciplinary team to ensure goals are met and exceeded.
  • Works with outside departments and agencies to develop educational programs through corporate events, fund raising events, etc.
  • Formulates, reviews, and revises departmental policies and procedures which safeguard patient care and promote efficient and creative practice.
  • Acts as the department's Epic electronic medical records system super-user and liaises with Information Technology when necessary.
  • Plans and ensures appropriate staffing for each department.
  • Manages the resolution of operational issues in the clinical area.
  • Assists in the marketing direct marketing of the practices through interactions and relationship building with referring physicians' offices and staff.
  • Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.). This process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).
  • Responsible for the development of PI within each practice and attends Department Quality Improvement meetings.
  • Attends all department meetings.
  • Communicates with medical leadership on a regular basis to assure care standards are being met.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Graduate of a NLN/AACN accredited program in nursing.
  • BSN, or minimum of 3 year experience for existing, internal RN candidates only.
  • Minimum of 5 years of prior nursing experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Surgical Practice experience.
  • Experience in an outpatient environment
  • Management experience.
  • Experience working in Epic electronic medical records system.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
  • NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License.

Compensation
Starting at $131,144.00 Annually

HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members. The posted rate of pay in this job posting is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of our market-competitive total rewards package.

The starting rate of pay is provided for informational purposes only and is not a guarantee of a specific offer. Posted hourly rates may be stated as an annual salary in the offer and posted annual salaries may be stated as an hourly rate in the offer, depending on the level and nature of the job duties and credentials of the candidate. The base compensation determined at the time of the offer may be different than the posted rate of pay based on a number of non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to:

  • Labor Market Data: Compensation is benchmarked against market data to ensure competitiveness.
  • Experience: Years of relevant work experience.
  • Education and Certifications: Level of education attained, including specialized certifications, credentials, completed apprenticeship programs or advanced training.
  • Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in relevant skills and competencies.
  • Geographic Location: Cost of living and market rates for the specific location.
  • Internal Equity: Compensation is determined in a manner consistent with compensation ranges for similar roles within the organization.
  • Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered.

Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.

In addition to our compensation for full-time and part-time (20+ hours/week) job positions, HMH offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits.
