The Business and Operations Manager, Division of Organ Transplant manages the operational, finance, business, and outreach activities for the Division of Organ Transplant under the direction of the Director, Transplant Services. This position is responsible for managing day to day operations including budgeting, contract review, recruitment of new staff and faculty, marketing, and strategic planning in collaboration with the Director, Transplant Services. This position is responsible for the management of APP personnel and Organ Preservation staff within the division of Organ Transplant. The Business and Operations Manager, Division of Organ Transplant plays a leading management role in five key programmatic areas:
1) Transplant Operations
2) Financial Management
3) Program Development and Marketing
4) Regulatory Compliance/QAPI
5) Strategic and Business Planning
This position has network responsibility over the operations of the Satellite locations, program outreach and program expansion.
Responsibilities
A day in the life of a Manager, Business Operations, Organ Transplant at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
Operations:
- Regular assessment for operations improvement opportunities including clinic front end flow, patient scheduling, and business/finance workflow.
- The Business and Operations Manager, Division of Organ Transplant will actively participate in all QAPI committee meetings, overseeing internal workflow of Division QAPI and Data analysis staff in collaboration with the Director, Transplant Services/and the Director of PS&Q.
- Oversees all deceased donor on call workflow, processes, and vendor relations, responsible for the oversight of vendor quality metrics as per CMS.
- Writes, implements, and maintain clinical and administrative policies in collaboration with program leadership team.
- Collaborates with and provide coverage for Clinical Manager as needed.
- Provides administrative coverage for the Director of Surgery and Abdominal Organ Transplant.
- Covers Clinical Manager as needed
Financial Management:
- Collaborates with the Director, Abdominal Organ Transplant services in assurance of clinical and administrative resource allocation, capital and operating budget development, establishing policies and models for management of patient care and operational workflow.
- Oversees all division billing work queues and financial team workflow to ensure timely charge submission for reimbursement.
- Collaborates with the network managed care team to oversee contracting/single case agreements and program COE status.
- Collaborates with The Director, Abdominal Organ Transplant and the cost report reimbursement team to prepare the annual Medicare Cost Report as well as identify any opportunities for revision/resubmission of previous years` reports.
Program Marketing and Development:
- Participates in network leadership level meetings and strategic planning for satellite clinic development and expansion, physician and community outreach events and initiatives, data capture, analysis, and presentation.
- Collaborates with program leadership and hospital/network PR and Marketing teams to design and implement new marketing and outreach initiatives.
- Oversees outreach efforts including community engagement, physician and provider referrals, satellite office development and operations management, and all CME/symposium events.
Regulatory Compliance/QAPI:
- Ensures that the Division of Organ Transplant is compliant at all times with all applicable regulations including state and federal laws, CMS Transplant Conditions of Participation, UNOS regulations, policies, and procedures, CDC and Joint Commission standard and requirements.
- Acts as program UNOS Voting Representative.
- Acts as primary program UNOS Safety Contact.
- Oversees all program DonorNet and EPIC activities with expert proficiency.
- Manages division QAPI activities and initiatives such as adverse event review and corrective action, QAPI meetings, performance improvement initiatives, and regulatory survey readiness in collaboration with hospital QAPI leadership.
Strategic and Business Planning:
- Plays a key role in the assessment of programmatic needs related to staffing, space, capital expenses.
- Identifies opportunities for new business and strategic ventures.
- Manages all vendor service agreements with program leadership and applicable hospital/network entities to ensure contracts are negotiated and executed, workflow is communicated, POs are obtained and updated as needed and all service issues are addressed and escalated in a timely manner.
- Oversees outside consultant visits
- Other duties as assigned.
- Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Master's degree in Nursing and/or Healthcare Leadership.
- Minimum of 3 years of administrative/leadership experience in healthcare.
- Expert level knowledge of Organ Transplant regulatory requirements and practice.
- Skill in both verbal and written communication.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
- Knowledge and experience in Medical practice financial oversight including hospital and professional side billing practices.
- Knowledge and experience in Organ Transplant QAPI initiatives including Adverse Event Review and CAPA development/implementation.
- Experience in Organ Transplant Medicare Cost Report preparation.
Licenses and Certifications Preferred:
- NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License.
- Advance Practice Nurse License.

Compensation
Minimum rate of $153,732.80 Annually
HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members. The posted rate of pay in this job posting is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of our market-competitive total rewards package.

- Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered.
Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
