Works on relocation of offices and medical equipment. Perform grounds maintenance tasks for all hospital grounds, including landscaping, cleaning, and snow removal.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Groundskeeper at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

• Operates heavy duty motorized landscaping equipment, lawn mowers, trimmers, blowers, etc. as required for maintenance of landscaped grounds.
• Operates snow plows and excavation equipment, tractors, bobcats, spreaders, and automated sweepers. 
• Operates steam pressure cleaners and pressure washers.
• Moves very heavy equipment, utilizing hydraulic lifts and all other methods required for lifting, transportation and relocations.
• Waters lawns and flower beds as required. Mow lawns, prunes, and trim trees and bushes as seasonally required.
• Remove paper and debris from all landscape areas, grounds, sidewalks and driveways and garages.
• Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways and parking lots using plows, Bobcats, blowers, shovels and other snow removal equipment. Sand/salt areas as required.
• Move furniture, files, and equipment within the Medical Center as required and all satellite facilities. Works on department relocation, packing files, and equipment as required for department moves. Develops list of the packed files.
• Installs and operates automated sprinkler systems as required for landscaping.
• Performs other duties of Plant Operations as required.
• Adjust and repair grounds maintenance equipment as required.
• Transport waste within the Medical Center or between the Medical Center and its associated facilities.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Ability to read, write and follow written/oral instructions.
• Additional training or experience in horticulture and landscaping.
• Experience in landscaping or grounds maintenance.
• Minimum of three year's driving experience.
• Experience driving a light truck, tractors, bobcats, spreaders, and sweepers.
• Experience in operating powered snow removal equipment and lawn maintenance equipment.
• Stands, walks, kneels, lifts, carries, pushes and pulls material and equipment weighing up to 80 lbs.
• Occasionally works on ladders.
• Works on landscaping and snow removal.
• Works mostly outside must be able to withstand the extreme weather of summer and winter.
• Works in offices and warehouses as required for relocation's and equipment storage.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

• Valid Driver's License from a USA state.

Compensation
Starting at $19.33 Hourly
