The Clinical Manager, Organ Transplant manages the daily operations of the Living Donor transplant initiatives and works in collaboration with the organ transplant leadership and transplant team to oversee the program operations for all living donors. This encompasses the process from evaluation through donation and into follow-up within the Faculty Practice and inpatient visits.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Clinical Manage, Organ Transplant at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Manages Clinical Staff of The Transplant Program, including interprets. supports and communicates policies, standards and procedures.
  • Responsible for the supervision and development of clinical staff, including time and attendance, monitoring mandatory education, coaching, evaluation, and, when necessary, discipline.
  • As part of the management team, provides education, guidance and direction to all coordinators and Medical Assistants in the areas of clinical competency, patient care, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Performs formal and informal EMR and NKR training for teams and division personnel as needed, functions as super user for the program for UNET, NKR and EPIC.
  • Assists in the development of initiatives that require budgetary approval, and monitors status with the director.
  • Monitors patient satisfaction, patient feedback, and works with staff and physicians to identify and resolve potential problems and continually improve patient process.
  • Monitors NRC scores and TIEID (regulatory formsI(completion monthly and works with multidisciplinary team to ensure goals are met and exceeded for all portions of the Transplant Program.
  • Works with outside departments and agencies to develop Transplant educational programs through corporate events, fund raising events, etc.
  • Formulates, reviews, and revises departmental policies and procedures which safeguard patient care and promote efficient and creative practice.
  • Assists the Director with appropriate staffing of the clinical services.
  • Manages the resolution of operational issues in the clinical area.
  • Assists in the marketing direct marketing of the practices through interactions and relationship building with referring physicians, offices and staff directed at Transplant.
  • Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.).  This process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).
  • Responsible for the development of PI, compliance of UNOS and CMS metrics and attends Department Quality Improvement meetings.
  • Responsible for On Call schedule for clinical team.
  • Collaborates with the Management Team on inter and intra departmental issues that may occur when dealing with other members of the organization.
  • Assists the management team in marketing and business development initiatives utilizing transplant services data for planning activities and through active participation in outreach activities.
  • Effectively conducts and/or gives input into employee performance appraisals in a timely manner as requested.
  • Initiates or assists with corrective action and disciplinary interviews in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.
  • Communicates with medical leadership on a regular basis to assure care standards for Transplant are being met.
  • Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational & Managerial Competencies.
  • Oversees and manages all paired-exchange programs for both clinical and regulatory compliance.
  • Cross Covers Business Manager Organ Transplant.

 

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited program in nursing.
  • Seven years of professional nursing experience which includes one year of administrative/supervisory experience and NJ RN Licensure.
  • Expert knowledge of UNOS and CMS Regulations pertaining to organ transplant with a focus on Living Donation.
  • Expert knowledge of National Kidney Registry, implementation and regulation maintenance.
  • Expert knowledge of UNOS Kidney Paired Donation program and process.
  • Advanced Knowledge of the Living Donor Practice.

 

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • BSN.
  • Experience in an outpatient environment.
  • Management experience.
  • Experience working in Epic electronic medical records system.

 

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License.
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
