Reporting to the Cath Lab Nurse Manager, the Supervisor, Cardiovascular Nursing will supervise the Hybrid critical care and PACU RNs in the newly combined Cardiovascular Lab and Hybrid OR. This role emphasizes leadership mentoring of newly developed and recruited staff, staff retention, staff performance and overall patient satisfaction. The Sup, Cardiovascular Nursing is a professional registered nurse who will be participating in the day-to-day operation and direct patient care in the critical care areas within the cath lab. The Sup, Cardiovascular Nursing is also responsible for assisting in the development and maintenance of nursing staff education. This position effectively coordinates direct patient care in the areas of critical care among nursing, physicians and support services.
Responsibilities
A day in the life of a Supervisor Cardiovascular Nursing at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
- Collaborates with Nurse Manager the daily operational flow within the Hybrid critical care/recovery areas.
- Responsible for supervising nurses in the Cardiovascular Lab and Hybrid OR.
- Develops schedules, daily team member assignments and responsibilities. 4. Performs needs assessments, analyzes results and identifies training opportunities based on those results.
- Assist in developing and designing educational offerings based on needs assessments and/or organizational/departmental requirements, the educational process, and principles of adult education.
- Assist in delivering educational offerings based on adult education learning principles.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of educational offerings to ensure that knowledge and/or skills learned are applicable and have an impact on staff performance in meeting departmental/ organizational goals Recommend, develops and implements additional educational training as needed.
- Participates in annual review and revision of staff orientation.
- Assist in coordinating a comprehensive, unit-specific program, inclusive of core competencies for staff in assigned areas.
- Assist in monitoring completion of tests and validation of skills.
- Communicates progress and clinical performance to nurse manager/administrative supervisor as appropriate.
- Assists in an annual review of mandatory education and core competencies based upon requirements of NJDOH, JCAHO, and Hackensack University Medical Center.
- Assist in planning and implementing in-services based upon identified learning needs of staff/patients.
- Assists staff in planning and developing nursing grand rounds, as requested.
- Participates in the coordination of education programs generated by the department.
- Collaborates with education specialist, advanced practice nurses, and nurse managers to enhance educational support in assigned areas.
- Supervises the coordination of patient placement including admission and discharge from the PACU area.
- Assist in developing action plans to improve patient satisfaction scores within the Hybrid cath lab, critical care and PACU.
- Participates in operational opportunities to support growth and efficiency of the Critical care and PACU RNs.
- Interprets supports and communicates policies, standards and procedures.
- Effectively and efficiently identifies shift problems; investigates and responds appropriately to all situations.
- Effectively conducts and/or gives input into employee performance appraisals in a timely manner as requested.
- Initiates or assists with corrective action and disciplinary interviews in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.
- Assists in maintaining appropriate staffing levels in compliance with acuity and budgetary levels.
- Serves as a role model for staff in all aspects of nursing (i.e. professionalism, quality care).
- Collaborates with the Nurse Manager for efficient fiscal management of departmental activities to ensure proper utilization of hospital financial resources.
- Assists in identifying cost containment measures by identifying alternative measures of product utilization within the nursing departments. 28. Interacts in an appropriate and timely manner in conflict situations, facilitating constructive resolutions and positive outcomes if possible.
- Collaborates with the Management Team on inter and intra departmental issues that may occur when dealing with other members of the organization.
- Coordinates and manages the daily operations of the division in the absence of administration.
- Identifies patient care issues and collaborates with the Management Team to initiate change.
- Assumes special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
- 5 years of experience in critical care area.
- 10 years of experience in clinical mentorship.
- NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License.
- AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
- Knowledge of team making management practices.
- Knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and techniques.
- Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles.
- Knowledge of state and agency laws and regulations governing general professional nursing practices.
- Skill in both verbal and written communication.
- Skill in leadership.
- Skill in applying professional nursing methods and techniques.
- Skill in maintaining effective working relationships.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification preferred
- Critical Care Registered Nurse (Adult, Neonatal, and Pediatric Acute) Certification preferred
Compensation
Starting at $131,144.00 Annually
HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members. The posted rate of pay in this job posting is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of our market-competitive total rewards package.

Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
