The Risk Management Analyst is responsible for processing potential claims and handling claims and litigation matters on a day-to-day basis for the various lines of coverage for JFK Health System. The RMA shall be responsible for coordinating property and casualty insurance portfolio. The RMA shall be responsible for legal research, consulting, and preparing statistical reports. The Risk Management Analyst performs these functions reporting directly to the Director of Risk Management. The Risk Management Analyst shall work closely with outside counsel, broker reps., and employees and the Director of Risk Management and Risk Management Coordinator(s)in carrying out these functions.
This is a full time positon in Risk Management located atJFK Medical Center in Edison
**We prefer someone with a College degree
**A Certified Paralegal with a bachelor degree would be great.
**Minimum two to three years of Paralegal experience, preferrably in Healthcare.
Responsibilities
A day in the life of a Risk Management Analyst at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
- Investigates and analyzes claims/litigation and potential claims upon receipt including: obtaining and sequestering evidence, obtaining visit history, obtaining pertinent medical records, searching for potential claim files, obtaining insurance information Performs insurance coverage analysis. Processes claims or assigns to outside counsel as appropriate. Reports to appropriate carrier(s) and broker within policy period. Obtains coverage determinations, and resolves unfavorable determinations. Coordinates day-to-day discovery (document production, interrogatories, scheduling interviews and depositions). Obtains reimbursement from carriers as appropriate on first party claims(eg., auto and property). Maintain current knowledge of status of all claims and litigation matters and keeps RM director apprised of changes. Does legal research as needed. Audits expenses and processes payments.
- Maintains up-to-date claims run at all times. Provides claims runs to carriers, and actuaries on a quarterly basis and as needed. Maintains appropriately organized litigation files. Maintains up-to-date electronic and paper claim files. Prepares materials for quarter claim and steering committee meetings. Prepares 'presentation ready' Risk Management reports as needed, including tables and graphs.
- Compiles data and completes insurance applications 2 months prior to expiration date. Management of exposure lists. (eg., property, physician, auto) . Processes requests for certificates of insurance. Obtains binders and policies. Maintain up-to-date electronic and paper insurance files. Audits and process bills for payment.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Excellent computer skills including ability to program computer to write required reports
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
- Associates degree with paralegal concentration.
- Minimum of 2-3 years, healthcare risk management experience.

Compensation
Starting at $52,790.40 Annually

- Internal Equity: Compensation is determined in a manner consistent with compensation ranges for similar roles within the organization.
- Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered.
Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
