The Privacy Audit Analyst supports the system-wide implementation and facilitation of ongoing privacy compliance auditing and monitoring. Under the direction of the Director of Privacy and the Manager Privacy and Security Audit, the Privacy Audit Analyst will ensure that systems, policies and procedures protect against unauthorized access, modification or destruction of Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) information assets. This position is responsible for developing and implementing audits, reports and analysis in order to enforce information privacy and security directives and compliance as required by HIPAA, the HITECH Act, and other applicable laws and regulations including prevention of intentional or inadvertent access, modification, disclosure, or destruction of records.

This is a hybrid position, based out of Edison, NJ. You will come on site about 1 day per month. 

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Privacy Audit Analyst at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Supports the effective implementation of the HMH Privacy Program
  • Develops and implementing audits, reports and analysis in order to enforce information privacy and security directives
  • Monitors the electronic medical record and other systems using available audit solution tools.
  • Establishes and maintains a mechanism to monitor access to protected health information held by HMH.
  • Ensures compliance as required by HIPAA, the HITECH Act, and other applicable laws and regulations including prevention of intentional or inadvertent access, modification, disclosure, or destruction of records.
  • In partnership with leadership team, ensures that systems, policies and procedures protect against unauthorized access, modification or destruction of Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) information assets
  • Develops analysis and reports to leadership trends, any identified inappropriate access and disclosure of protected health information.
  • Prepares and maintains clear, organized, and complete documentation to support work performed, including draft findings.
  • Evaluate complex report requests to create and develop new reports as needed/requested and work collaboratively to serve ad hoc and/or ongoing information analysis.
  • Maintains accurate security and privacy related files.
  • Maintains current knowledge of applicable federal and state privacy laws.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information management systems, or a related discipline.
  • Five (5) years hospital, healthcare, or related regulatory experience and experience in information privacy laws, access, release of information, and familiarity with release control technology.
  • Recommended privacy certification in healthcare privacy
  • Experience with project management in a large organization.
  • Demonstrated organization, facilitation, communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

 

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Basic understanding of rules and regulations pertaining to IT regulatory compliance requirements and standards such as HIPAA and HITECH considered a plus.
  • Competency in Epic and/or PeopleSoft security environment
