Responsibilities
A day in the life of a Lead Endoscopy Technician at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
- Prepares Endoscopy rooms with appropriate supplies and equipment necessary for each individual
procedure; refers to the Physician's preference list for special needs. - Assists Endoscopist with various Advanced GI procedures as directed in an accurate and precise
manner. - Precepts/teaches other Endoscopy Technicians the Advanced GI procedures.
- Provide necessary support to other Endo Technicians throughout the procedure/s.
- Reports progress and escalates potential barriers to appropriate leadership on an ongoing basis.
- Maintains Advance GI endoscopy equipment. Keeps cart/accessories/supplies neat, clean and dry.
- Transfers patients to and from their unit or other department as needed.
- Accompanies patients to lobby upon discharge when necessary.
- Maintain inventory and order supplies.
- Send scopes out for repair as needed.
- Check linen carts daily to ensure that they are properly stocked.
- Cleans and remakes stretchers after use, prepares stretchers and general area for next day.
- Assists with patient's emergencies by obtaining emergency equipment and performing other duties as
requested by the R.N. - Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior
Reprocessing Scopes Job Function: - Adheres to policy and procedure for reprocessing scopes and follows the manufacturer's
recommendations (IFUs). - Wears PPE including gown, gloves and mask.
- Leak Testing.
- Manual cleaning
- High Level disinfection.
- Changing filters.
- Keeps logs up to date.
- Recognizes the need to order cleaning supplies.
- Let the charge nurse know of any problems with the reprocessing process.
- Calls for vendor support as needed.
Aware of the potential for exposure to hazardous materials. Knows where to find the MSDS for such
materials and takes precautions.
Qualifications
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
- A minimum of 2 years related clinical experience with recent experience in cleaning scopes.
- Strong knowledge of GI procedures, anatomy and physiology.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations with composure.
- Attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office, Google Suite
platforms and PeopleSoft.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: - A minimum of 5 years of experience as an Endoscopy Technician.
Licenses and Certifications Required: - AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
Licenses and Certifications Preferred: - Certified Endoscope Reprocesssor.

Compensation
Starting at $25.38 Hourly
HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members. The posted rate of pay in this job posting is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of our market-competitive total rewards package.

Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
