Full Time APP Night position for JFKUMC
General surgery and surgical subspecialty NIGHTS
The General Surgery and Surgical subspecialty Advanced PracticeProvider (Acute Care or Adult Gerontology Acute Care Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) or Physician Assistant) utilizes a patient-centered coordinated care model, demonstrating competencies in leadership, direct clinical practice, consultation/collaboration, coaching/guiding, research, and ethical decision-making. The APP works collaboratively with the practice/hospital team to assess, plan, and implement care for individuals with health and safety needs.
The APP manages the overnight inpatient and operative needs of surgical patients in conjunction with, and under the supervision of an attending physician . They are responsible for the assessment and management of various patient populations which includes the overall management of surgical patient, ordering and interpretation of diagnostic testing, development of appropriate plans of care, therapeutic interventions. They maintain a collaborative work environment that is safe, just, and founded on principles of high reliability and quality outcomes for patients and colleagues. The APP will perform duties in accordance with state and federal regulations as well as network policies, NP and PA scope of practice guidelines, approved clinical privileges and the HMHN APP policy. The APP reports to the department clinical lead and Director of Advanced Practice Providers, Full time includes weekends and holidays on a rotational basis.
Acute Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with a minimum of 2 years experience in the Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant role preferred.

- Obtains a thorough patient surgical history that includes: Determination of their health status and care needs. Analysis of primary symptoms. Complete medical and social history. Performs an appropriate physical examination and recognizes normal and abnormal findings. Records findings of the physical exam in a clear and concise manner using the appropriate format. Counsel, educate, and instruct patients in specific disease-related and preventative medicine areas. Focuses on surgical intervention readiness, optimizing the patients pre operative status, facilitating operative management and post operative throughput.
- Communicates with assigned physician regarding pertinent patient information including but not limited to actual or potential clinical problems. Collaborates with physicians, family members, social workers, community contacts and other members of the health care team in patient care planning.
- Utilizes assessment skills and collaborates with other disciplines to develop a comprehensive education plan to meet patient/family needs. Utilizes assessment skills and collaborates with other disciplines to develop a comprehensive plan of care that meets patient needs. Incorporates diagnosis, interventions, and expected outcomes. Communicates plans of care with the patient and family. Identifies the patients educational needs based on the assessment of the patient.
- Understands their role as a professional and conducts themselves in accordance with the same. Seeks out other professionals to network and create positive alliances. Is committed to a positive meaningful interaction with the patients.

Schedule with be (2) 13 hour overnights and (1) 14 hour overnight.
Qualifications
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 1. Graduate of an NLN/AACN accredited nursing program. 2. Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. 3. Maintains clinical competencies through continuing education and clinical practice. 4. Experience in a relevant patient care setting (or as regulations dictate). 5. National Provider Identifier (NPI). 6. Prescriptive authority through CDS and DEA registration according to New Jersey state law. 7. Collaborative agreement with physicians on staff. 8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 9. Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms. Licenses and Certifications Required: 1. NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License. 2. Advance Practice Nurse License. 3. BLS AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification. 4. Board certified by AANP or ANCC. 5.. AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 1. Successful completion of an approved physician's assistant program, accredited by the AMA Council on Medical Education. 2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 3. Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: 1. Not Applicable. Licenses and Certifications Required: 1. Physician Assistant License. 2. National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. 3. BLS AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification. 4. AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification.
Compensation
Minimum rate of $149,177.60 Annually

Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered. Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
