The Digital Technology Services (DTS) Associate Scrum Master's primary duties may include coordinating and facilitating sprint planning, retrospective sprint review, daily stand-up, encouraging collaboration within the scrum team and Product Owners, supporting the team and the Product Owner and helping with communication across Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) network. This role is expected to help the Scrum team remove external and internal blockers/impediments and shield them from external distractions. Should steer the scrum team towards the sprint goals and assist the Product Owner with Backlog refinement. Should be innovators who constantly seek ways to improve themselves and the team.
Responsibilities
A day in the life of a Digital Technology Services (DTS) Associate Scrum Master's at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
- Perform all scrum ceremonies like daily scrum, sprint review, and sprint planning in a way that ensures full team engagement.
- Support the Product Owner in refining backlogs.
- Conduct basic conflict resolution.
- Foster close cooperation across all team members, encourage cross-training and support each other.
- Facilitate basic communication and collaboration inside and outside the team.
- Shield the team from external interference and ensure the team is fully functional and productive.
- Foster self-organization and growth within the team.
- Generate an agile mindset across teams through conversations and role-playing exercises.
- Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be comfortably raised and where challenging the status quo to attain continuous improvement is encouraged.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, and/or applicable technical certificate, and/or equivalent related experience.
- Minimum of 0-2 years of experience working in an agile software development environment, preferably as a Scrum Master.
- General knowledge of Scrum development methodologies.
- Experience with Agile / Scrum tools (e.g., Asana).
- Delivery or software development.
- Familiarity with tech stacks.
- Attention to detail, critical thinking, a desire to learn, and interpersonal skills.
- Relationship building skills.
- Ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Translation of complex technical concepts.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Agile work process.
- Experience with customer focus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Google Suite platforms.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
- Experience working as a Scrum Master.
Licenses and Certifications Preferred:
- Certified Scrum Practitioner.
- Certified Scrum Master.

Compensation
Starting at $82,513.60 Annually
HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members. The posted rate of pay in this job posting is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of our market-competitive total rewards package.
The starting rate of pay is provided for informational purposes only and is not a guarantee of a specific offer. Posted hourly rates may be stated as an annual salary in the offer and posted annual salaries may be stated as an hourly rate in the offer, depending on the level and nature of the job duties and credentials of the candidate. - Experience: Years of relevant work experience.
- Education and Certifications: Level of education attained, including specialized certifications, credentials, completed apprenticeship programs or advanced training.
- Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in relevant skills and competencies.
- Geographic Location: Cost of living and market rates for the specific location.
- Internal Equity: Compensation is determined in a manner consistent with compensation ranges for similar roles within the organization.
- Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered.
Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
In addition to our compensation for full-time and part-time (20+ hours/week) job positions, HMH offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits.
