The Manager of the Urology Practice manages the office staff, as well as, all facility and clinical departmental staff assuring the office runs efficiently, delegating responsibilities, and problem solving. This job provides appropriate level of support services and resources for the daily management of the department.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Manager of the Urology Practice at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Manages staff members and educational activities for the department.
  • Monitors Standards of Practice to ensure compliance with codes of internal and external regulatory and accrediting agencies, including:
    • Joint Commission.
    • NJS and Federal Codes (i.e. DOH, OSHA).
    • Professional Review Organizations.
  • Ensures adherence to legal requirements relating to:
    • Risk Management.
    • Patient Bill of Rights.
    • Other Regulatory Agencies.
  • Provides for the execution of outcomes based practice and directs staff in its application.
  • Provides input for education programs through assessment of staff needs.
  • Evaluates the level of care provided by the department staff.
  • Promotes medical center objectives for patient satisfaction through communication of data and the implementation of methods to sustain or resolve patient satisfaction issues.
  • Creates and monitors practice based indicators as mandated or necessary, integrating functions of standards development, continuing education, credentialing, performance appraisal, concurrent monitoring, risk management, and active problem identification.
  • Acts as a Retention Officer for areas of responsibility and the department as a whole and implements strategies directed towards retention and recruitment of all nursing and non-nursing employees.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills:
    • Establishes a mutually supportive relationship with all partners in care.
    • Maintains a professional relationship with:
      • Hospital Administrators.
      • Medical Staff.
      • Department Heads.
  • Utilizes effective communication skills.
  • Is responsive to staff needs and offers guidance in solving practice issues when consulted through the performance process.
  • Responsible for own professional growth.
  • Participates in development and implementation of programs related to performance improvement activities.
  • Assures efficient process and optimizes operational flow of the practice, schedule and patient flow.
  • Works with department physicians to provide optimal care to patients.
  • Triages and responds to patient phone calls and electronic messages and delivers them to staff.
  • Assures pre-authorization of prescriptions.
  • Works with interdisciplinary teams to provide integrated comprehensive patient care.
  • Communicates with external stakeholders and participates in disease related external meetings.
  • Represents the department in hospital and network committees at the direction of the Chair.
  • Coordinates with Faculty Practice/Billing Department to make sure that all patient encounters/ procedures/consults are appropriately coded and billed to third parties.
  • Monitors all accounts receivable and reviews all collections and A/R with the Chair.
  • Runs various reports on wRVUs, collections, cancellation of appointments, no-shows and volume on weekly basis for review with the Chair. Including, but not limited to, various reports on inpatient, outpatient and quality metrics for departmental services
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Chair or his/her designee.
  • Maintains up-to-date departmental manuals and files.
  • Play a significant role in long-term planning, including an initiative geared toward operational excellence.
  • Develop and manage annual budget including monitoring of cash flow with the Chair
  • Payroll management, including tabulation of accrued employee benefits
  • Recruitment & onboarding of new personnel; clinical and non-clinical employees
  • Facilitates monthly meetings with the staff to communicate relevant information pertaining to operational and departmental initiatives
  • Prepare any and all PowerPoint presentations on behalf of the department Chair
  • Monitor credentialing for all staff providers
  • Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Managerial Competencies

 

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Graduate of Bachelor degree or higher.
  • 4 years office management and billing experience.
  • Experience in healthcare or corporate sectors.
  • Medical terminology.
  • Multitasking ability.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.

Compensation
Starting at $111,924.80 Annually

HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members. The posted rate of pay in this job posting is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of our market-competitive total rewards package.

The starting rate of pay is provided for informational purposes only and is not a guarantee of a specific offer. Posted hourly rates may be stated as an annual salary in the offer and posted annual salaries may be stated as an hourly rate in the offer, depending on the level and nature of the job duties and credentials of the candidate.   • Experience: Years of relevant work experience.

  • Geographic Location: Cost of living and market rates for the specific location.
  • Internal Equity: Compensation is determined in a manner consistent with compensation ranges for similar roles within the organization.
  • Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered.

Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.

In addition to our compensation for full-time and part-time (20+ hours/week) job positions, HMH offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits.
