The Food & Nutrition Coordinator is a central and vital member of the Food and Nutrition team. Acting with delegated authority the position is responsible for the operational coordination of the department and supervision of patient dining associates to ensure the smooth execution of departmental activities. This position thrives in a dynamic, multi-skilled environment, ensuring all functions are performed in accordance with established policies and procedures while providing exceptional customer service and facilitating communication between team members, management, and other hospital departments.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

 

  • Manages the onboarding process for all new team members, ensuring a seamless and positive transition into the department, including maintenance of all team member records, system access, timekeeping setup, acquisition of uniforms and orientation compliance. 
  • Provide leadership support to all functional areas of Food and Nutrition.
  • Monitors all patient floor stock inventory reports and transactions ensuring appropriate par level on the units.
  • Maintains on-hand inventory. Rotates stock to prevent loss. Physically inspect the storage to ensure adequate levels of goods are on hand to service our customers
  • Manages eCatering requests, arranges set up and execution of all event functions.
  • Operates, maintains and inventories all meal delivery equipment, electronics tablets and supplies.
  • Team member Liaison for HMH policies, procedures, eLearnings, surveys, in-service completion.
  • Timekeeping in the payroll system for the department as assigned.
  • Communicates invoice correction, repair or maintenance work orders with vendors, EVS, maintenance.
  • Electronically inputs Invoices, Department Requisitions, Retail sales summaries (eFinance data entry).
  • Executes physician billing for credited meals.
  • Assists with display of corporate-provided marketing materials in retail area.
  • Assists with Micros Symphony Oracle POS system page design for electronic cash registers, kiosks.
  • Manages eCatering requests, assists with set up and delivery of functions.
  • Assists in retail services as needed.
  • Interacts with team members, retail customers.
  • Coordinates with EVS requests for cafe cleanliness.
  • Answers, places and transfers telephone calls and Records and relays messages.
  • Completes incident reported via OneLink as requested
  • Maintains communication within the FAN department and between the FAN department and other hospital departments.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

 

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), GED equivalent programs, and/or other Vocational degrees/certificates.) 
  • Minimum of 2 or more years of experience in health care or commercial food and nutrition settings.
  • Knowledge of Volante system food retail and eCatering Track Systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office platforms.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Computer skills (Google applications, G Mail, Micros POS, eFinance ) are preferred, but not a requirement as training provided as part of the orientation process.

Compensation
Minimum rate of $22.77 Hourly

HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members. The posted rate of pay in this job posting is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of our market-competitive total rewards package.

  • Internal Equity: Compensation is determined in a manner consistent with compensation ranges for similar roles within the organization.
  • Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered.

Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.

In addition to our compensation for full-time and part-time (20+ hours/week) job positions, HMH offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits.
