Under the leadership of the Vice President, Nursing Research, Grants and Academic Affairs (VP), Nurse Scientists support and facilitate individuals engaging in research activities to advance research in practice. Designs and implements individual or collaborative investigator initiated studies and/or projects. Oversees the nursing research program, the coordination of related research project plans and the implementation of education for all levels of personnel. Supports grant acquisition and overseeing the grant administration process, ensuring compliance with grant regulations.

Responsibilities

1. Directs the nursing research process in collaboration with the Center for Nursing Research, Grants and Academic Affairs.

2. Conducts independent scientific studies and research in the field of nursing.

3. Ensures the education of staff to translate research findings into practice.

4. Collaborates with network research councils to provide initial and ongoing education regarding nursing research.

5. Collaborates with and supports the implementation of the project plan for evidence-based practice, inclusive of education and related policies, procedures and protocols for nursing across the organization.

6. Seeks research funding through grant applications, assists departments and individual health care professionals to apply and obtain such funding for research projects and activities.

7. Assists, facilitates and supports the development of interdepartmental and interdisciplinary research activities, including generating research interest groups.

8. Supports communication of nursing research and EBP activities: Actively participates in internal and external research and EBP conferences. Publishes in peer-reviewed journals. Contributes to internal publications related to research and EBP.

9. Supports external academic affiliations related to research and EBP.

10. Other duties and/or projects as assigned.

11. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

1. Doctorate in Nursing or related field

2. Minimum of 5 years experience in nursing education and/or research.

3. Demonstrated expertise in nursing research and evidence-based practice.

4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

5. Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

 

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

1. Published author in scholarly nursing journals.

 

Licenses and Certifications Required:

1. NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License

Compensation
Minimum rate of $126,464.00 Annually

Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
