The incumbent Supervisor of Nuclear Medicine, PET CT, and MRI is a comprehensive leadership role responsible for the oversight of the Nuclear Medicine/PET CT and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) departments, while working within the Nuclear Medicine/PET CT department. This position involves managing daily clinical operations, supervising technical and support staff, and ensuring the highest standards of image quality, patient safety, and strict compliance with all regulatory and accrediting bodies. Serving as a key liaison, the supervisor acts as the central communication link between internal teams (staff, management, medical director) and external referring sources, including physicians' offices and managed care representatives. This includes managing all scheduling, pre-authorization, and communication needs to resolve issues and strengthen customer relationships. Working as a nuclear and PET CT tech daily. Furthermore, the supervisor contributes to the departments' growth by providing input for marketing objectives, accurately reporting volume statistics, and acting as the safety liaison to the Performance Improvement (PI) and safety committees to help drive network-wide imaging initiatives.
Responsibilities
A day in the life of a Supervisor of Nuclear Medicine, PET CT, and MRI at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
1. Supervises all technical personnel in the performance of procedures, stressing accuracy, safety, and proper patient handling.
2. Prepares and manages all staff scheduling, payroll, on-call coverage sheets, and overtime approval forms.
3. Evaluates the performance of all staff and oversees staff training to maintain the highest quality diagnostic images.
4. Schedules and leads monthly departmental meetings and in-services, utilizing both internal staff and external resources.
5. Participates in interdepartmental planning and makes recommendations to radiology leadership.
6. Assists in the preparation of the departmental budget, providing input on maintenance, equipment, supplies, and personnel needs.
7. Communicates with nursing services and physicians to obtain pertinent clinical information and informs staff physicians of procedure requirements to ensure coordinated service.
8. Performs daily clerical duties, including the use of EPIC, PACS, Teletracking System, and other hospital computer systems for patient scheduling and record-keeping.
9. Participates in performing nuclear medicine and PET CT studies, and included in a rotating daily schedule and on-call weekend hours for Nuclear medicine.
10. Holds ultimate responsibility for all regulatory compliance for both modalities, including but not limited to ACR, The Joint Commission, NJDEP, and DOH standards.
11. Oversees and performs modality-specific daily and monthly Quality Assurance (QA) checks.
12. Monitors changes in personnel and equipment status to determine the need for amendments to byproduct licenses with state and federal agencies.
13. Maintains a comprehensive recording system to avoid undue radiation exposure to personnel in Nuclear medicine and PET.
14. Supervises and performs all Nuclear Medicine/PET CT procedures in accordance with departmental protocols to ensure the highest diagnostic quality and accuracy.
15. Supervisors MRI department ensures all protocols are correctly performed and safety conditions are met.
16. Ensures the availability of necessary supplies to maintain efficient departmental functionality.
17. Performs all tasks as required by a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, demonstrating the knowledge and skill to provide expert patient care.
18. Acts/supervisors the Magnetic Resonance Safety Officer (MRSO) for the MRI department, responsible for maintaining and enforcing MRI Safety Zones at all times, if applicable.
19. Oversees all equipment maintenance, daily inspections, and calibrations, and anticipates the need for major repairs, replacements, or new acquisitions for equipment in both departments.
20. Evaluates and recommends new equipment, including capital equipment purchases.
21. Ensures the proper operating performance of all equipment and maintains expert knowledge of its function and controls.
22. Maintains a strict system for the protection of restricted areas where radioactive material is stored and disposed of.
23. Manages the proper procedure for the delivery of radioactive material, including safe storage and calibration to determine the accuracy of the stated dosage.
24. Maintains detailed records of the delivery, receipt, storage, use, and disposal of all radioactive materials.
25. Greets all patients upon their arrival for an exam utilizing A.I.D.E.T. standards.
26. Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.).
27. Communicates effectively with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their developmental, educational, and literacy level.
28. Demonstrates flexibility in work schedule (including weekends & holidays) as needed to provide continual quality patient care and meet departmental needs.
29. Adheres to all HMH organizational competencies, standards of behavior, and policies, including Employee ID, Attendance, and Punctuality.
30. Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
1. High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
2. Minimum of three (3) or more years of experience in the field.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
4. Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office platforms.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
1. Clinical leadership experience.
2. Bachelor's Degree.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
1. Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
2. Nuclear Medical Technologist License.
3. BLS AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
Licenses and Certifications Preferred:
1. Magnetic Resonance Imaging Certification or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Tech.
2. CT attenuation license.

Compensation
Minimum rate of $124,571.20 Annually
HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members. The posted rate of pay in this job posting is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of our market-competitive total rewards package.

Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
