Responsibilities
The Dir, Perioperative Services is responsible for direction, organization, budget and control of patient care in Surgical Services including OR, SDS, PACU, Endoscopy, PAT areas and Sterile Processing Department. Maximizes patient satisfaction by instituting an effective Pride in Caring program. Serves in the absence of the Vice President/Patient Care Services/Chief Nursing Officer, performs duties and responsibilities as directed. Participates in the shared-governance process and patient safety initiatives.
S/He will analyze data, implements program and maintains a strategic plan. Effectively implements program improvements as measured objectively by people, quality, service, growth and finance indicators. Keeps strategic plan up to date. Effectively works with physicians, nursing, ancillary and administrative staff to incorporate ideas and gain support for programs and services. Assesses opportunities to use technology to accomplish product line objectives. Presents recommendations and works to effectively implement technical solutions that have measurable benefits to the product line. Maintains current knowledge of new technology available for the product line advancement.
S/He will integrate programs and services, as well as other Hackensack Meridian Surgical Services, to leverage business, lower costs, and improve quality. Effectively leads others to change and meet organizational objectives through modeling HMH mission, vision and values. Restructures and reorganizes resources to meet needs. Effectively work across departments/ HMH Hospitals, to achieve growth of the service line.
S/He serves as the line manager for perioperative services. Ensure compliance with regulations from the DOH, JCAHO, AORN and APSAN. Effectively understands, communicates, supports and implements all guidelines, policies, procedures and activities that relate to perioperative services. Represents the service line on interdisciplinary hospital committees.
S/He establishes and maintains good rapport with OMC surgeons and other physicians across the system. Regular mechanisms for communication are established with the department of surgery and other physician constituents. Serves as key staff liaison to administration as it pertains to product line. S/He effectively and clearly communicates plans, activities and progress in a timely manner. Uses corporate resources effectively.
S/He plans, strategize, develop and improve operation room services utilizing expertise, trended data, and input from internal and external resources to develop and implement recommendations. Plan and strategize to develop new programs and improve current services resulting in improved outcomes, increased market share and profitability. Maintains a current working knowledge of all aspects (including clinical, business and ethical) of the product line. Demonstrates this knowledge in all aspects of the product line through innovation and collaboration with knowledge gained through national benchmarks and healthcare trends.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Masters degree in nursing or in health care administration, business or other related field required
Bachelor's degree in Nursing required
May require CNOR or within 6 months
Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in healthcare administration with increasing level of administrative responsibility.
Minimum of 5 years of varied and progressive management & perioperative services experience
Experience in staffing, budget, and finance
Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
