The Vascular Program Manager has dual responsibilities of program leadership and clinical practice. This Manager works closely with the Medical Director to establish and sustain a vascular program consistent with IAC guidelines, with all standards necessary to achieve IAC Accreditation. Performs the role utilizing the patient-centered coordinated care model demonstrated through the following competencies: leadership, direct clinical practice, consultation/collaboration, coaching/guiding, research, and ethical decision making. Works collaboratively with other members of the practice/hospital team to assess, plan and implement care for individuals with health and safety needs. This position is responsible to build a new subspecialty service line and manage the infrastructure, community outreach, and education to the departments within the hospital. This role builds out protocols for the subspecialty service line, establishes and manages a team that leads to new services being offered, provides education to the nursing teams, manages patients and develops care plans, and assists leadership in strategic planning to build out a program.
Responsibilities
A day in the life of a Vascular Program Manager at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
1. Performs functions of Vascular Technologist.
2. Oversight for orientation and training of new personnel. This includes: hands-on scanning instruction, operation of equipment, introduction to Laboratory evaluation forms and to all aspects of Laboratory protocols. Utilizes Laboratory statistics to prepare monthly productivity reports.
3. Conducts department technical in-services including verbal as well as written information (e.g., literature review, safety standards, technical updates).
4. Functions as a resource person regarding clinical and technical information. This includes: reading/reviewing current technical literature; attending appropriate conferences; correlation of results with invasive procedures (able to read and understand reports and visually survey radiology films).
5. Performs daily and annual evaluation of Laboratory personnel. This includes the ability to discriminate between acceptable versus unacceptable standards of behavior.
6. Oversight to preparation of the annual department budget. This includes calculating department statistics and ability to project volume and operating needs of the department.
7. Establishes and maintains meaningful relationships with other health care professionals in order to assure quality patient care.
8. Reviews patient charts to expedite the 24-hour turn-around time for the patients' results.
9. Assists technical and clerical staff with any second opinions or questions with patient testing and also assists with resolving scheduling issues that may arise daily.
10. Ensures the daily scheduling of work assignments for all technologists in absence of the Department Manager.
11. Ensures timeliness of scheduled appointments and informs patients of any delays.
12. Attends professional meetings and conferences so as to maintain a high level of technical proficiency and continual updating of new procedures and ideas.
13. Reports and follows-up on any equipment malfunction and/or departmental maintenance that is needed; this may include: reporting computer problems to the help-desk, reporting unsanitary conditions to environmental services, speaking with maintenance for any departmental repairs.
14. Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.). This process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).
15. Responsible for IAC accreditation processes and functions as the Technical Director of the local Vascular Lab.
16. Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
17. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
1. High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
2. Completion of formal Vascular Technology training program or general ultrasound including vascular technology curriculum.
3. Previous experience in non-invasive vascular testing.
4. Demonstrated superior ability in organization skills and technical skills.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
6. Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
1. Three years experience in hospital with direct patient contact.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
1. Registered Vascular Technologist Certification or Registered Vascular Specialist Certification.
2. AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.

Compensation
Starting at $106,329.60 Annually
HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members. The posted rate of pay in this job posting is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of our market-competitive total rewards package.
The starting rate of pay is provided for informational purposes only and is not a guarantee of a specific offer. Posted hourly rates may be stated as an annual salary in the offer and posted annual salaries may be stated as an hourly rate in the offer, depending on the level and nature of the job duties and credentials of the candidate. The base compensation determined at the time of the offer may be different than the posted rate of pay based on a number of non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to:
- Labor Market Data: Compensation is benchmarked against market data to ensure competitiveness.
- Experience: Years of relevant work experience.
- Education and Certifications: Level of education attained, including specialized certifications, credentials, completed apprenticeship programs or advanced training.
- Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in relevant skills and competencies.
- Geographic Location: Cost of living and market rates for the specific location.
- Internal Equity: Compensation is determined in a manner consistent with compensation ranges for similar roles within the organization.
- Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered.
Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
