The Director, Reg Anesthesiology Services will partner with and assist the Regional Chair of Anesthesiology with all clinical and business aspects of the service, including contracting, billing, quality reporting, staffing, strategic planning and implementation.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Director, Reg Anesthesiology Services at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Align with hospital and network strategic goals to develop and implement initiatives that support current and future growth of programs utilizing anesthesia services, including:
    • Analyze utilization of current Anesthesia personnel
    • Market analysis for Anesthesiologists and CRNAs
    • Develop and implement strategic initiatives to recruit anesthesiologists and CRNAs
    • Assist with recruitment, contracting, credentialing, and onboarding of Anesthesia personnel
  • Assist site leadership with strategic planning and development of business plans to support business growth opportunities, including:,
    • Pain Management Program
    • Pre-Anesthesia Evaluation and Optimization Center
  • Develop, implement and maintain the necessary systems to ensure accurate and comprehensive tracking of all business/financial aspects of Anesthesiology services including:
    • Develop and implement efficient and accurate billing processes for Anesthesia and Pain Management services.
    • Analyze billing data to identify areas for revenue enhancement while ensuring regulatory compliance.
    • Stay informed of changes in billing regulations and implement necessary updates to billing procedures.
    • Ensure prompt resolution of coding and billing inquiries to Anesthesia providers.
    • Monitor and ensure compliance and fulfillment of Anesthesiology group contracts.
    • Reconcile financial obligations by/with Anesthesiology groups as set forth in contracts.
    • Manage departmental budget and resources effectively including those associated with Anesthesiology Residency Program.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on relevant Quality, Patient Satisfaction, and Surgeon Satisfaction data and metrics and identify opportunities, establish strategies, and implement initiatives for improvement.
    • Report Quality metrics data to relevant stakeholders, including hospital administration, medical staff leadership, and regulatory agencies.
  • Manage relationships with all 3rd party vendors involved with the Anesthesiology program, including equipment suppliers, pharmaceutical companies, and billing and Quality reporting services.
    • Negotiate contracts and ensure that vendors are meeting the program's needs.
    • Monitor vendor performance and address any issues that arise.
  • Support Chair, Program Director, and Program Coordinator in all aspects of the Anesthesiology Residency Program, including:
    • Foster a positive and supportive learning environment for residents.
    • Assist with obtaining the resources necessary for the Program to enhance resident experience and satisfaction and ensure continued accreditation of the Program.
  • Serve as a resource and asset to the Regional Chair of Anesthesiology, including:
    • Business analysis and strategic planning
    • Staffing and utilization of personnel resources
    • Anesthesia and Pain Management billing
    • Quality and Patient Safety
    • Assistance with departmental Staff Meetings
    • Manage the capital equipment budgeting and purchasing process
  • Develop and maintain effective communication and collaboration with physicians, other internal and external departments, and vendors.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in business/operations/finance or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership or program management experience in a acute care or medical group environment
  • Minimum 5 years leadership role in an Anesthesiology program.
  • Experience with 3rd party vendor management is a plus. Strong understanding of complex billing procedures and regulations as related to Anesthesiology and Pain Management.
  • Prior budget management experience
  • Experience with quality metrics reporting and analysis.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop residency programs.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

 

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Master's degree in business/operations/finance or related field
