The Clinical Academic Placement Coordinator will partner with local colleges and universities to help foster the successful clinical placements of students at Hackensack Meridian Health. The individual would maintain relationships with HMH leaders and clinicians and with assigned schools to assist in the scheduling of student practicums to support the clinical component of the education programs. Individual partners with college and university staff to assist with successful clinical placement programs at HMH, ensures placements for students assigned to clinical sites, and monitors student assignments to ensure a successful student experience. The Clinical Academic Placement Coordinator will work w/ colleges and/or universities to implement and develop employment opportunities at HMH for students and/or recent graduates.  The coordinator will be located in an office on-campus at the university/ college.

Responsibilities

  1. Initiate and maintain relationships with clinical departments to support student clinical placements. 
  2. Plans, coordinates, and manages clinical placement assignments across the HMH network. 
  3. Assist students with identifying potential clinical placements and the policies/procedures to secure them. 
  4. Maintain positive relationships to plan for and schedule student group clinical or individual preceptor rotations. 
  5. Identify potential student learning experiences in new and existing areas at HMH. 
  6. Assist the university to facilitate affiliation agreements, if needed. 
  7. Creates relationships with students and faculty to encourage placements within Hackensack Meridian Health. 
  8. Helps prepare documentation (i.e., student/faculty profiles) needed for accurate placement. 9. Ensure all required HMH documentation, background checks, and health records for students have been submitted. 
  9. Ensures comprehensive HMH orientation and onboarding for students and the selected clinical placement. 
  10. Communicate with clinical leaders timely on clinical placements and clinical orientation schedules for each student group each semester. 
  11. Communicates with leaders regarding changes in university schedule impacting placements. 13. Shares information that impacts clinical education experience. 
  12. Attends professional meetings, and other meetings when they occur as appropriate. 
  13. Participates in campus activities such as faculty meetings, student functions, graduation exercises, open houses, new student orientations, and advisory board meetings representing Hackensack Meridian Health. 
  14. Other duties and/or projects as assigned. 
  15. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

1. Master's degree.

2. Minimum five years of professional experience and prefer two years of directly related experience.

3. Current in-depth knowledge of nursing practice and/or health care professions.

4. Excellent relationship building skills

5. Knowledge in technological support and delivery of programs and services.

6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

7. Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

 

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: 1. Knowledgeable of medical professions and proven ability to establish relationships with clinicians and senior leaders. 2. A minimum of one-year prior experience working with or in clinical sites, placing students, and coordinating related documents preferred.

 

Licenses and Certifications Required: 1. NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License.
