The Psychiatry Resident is responsible for providing care to patients under the supervision and guidance of a psychiatry attending physician.

NOTE:  This position is available to current HMH Medical Residents only.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Psychiatry Resident at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

 

  • As requested, provide care for psychiatry department patients requiring evaluation and treatment in the inpatient, emergency department, and consultation settings.
  • Participates in effective communication with physician leadership, nursing leadership, clinical staff, patients, and families.
  • Accurately and timely completion of documentation of all patient encounters. Records will be attested to by the attending physician on-call. The billing provider will be the on-call attending physician.
  • Follows the Hackensack Meridian Health Medical Board Code of Conduct.
  • Participates in educational programs for professional staff.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Current BLS and ACLS certification
  • In good standing with the residency program.
  • Residents/fellows on a J-1 status are ineligible for moonlighting privileges.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • M.D. or D.O. degree from a recognized medical school.
  • PGY-3 or above, as approved by the Program Director.
  • PRITE score > 40% nationally on the most recent PRITE examination.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification.
