Reporting to the Director of Laboratory Services, the Radiology Technologist provides X-Ray services to various impatient patients in a professional and timely manner.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Radiology Technologist at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Demonstrates competence in the age specific x-ray and/or EKG techniques and the identification of the patient;s age specific needs.
  • Consistently accurate and dependable with limited or no supervision in the performance of all routine x-ray and/or EKG procedures for the adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient.
  • Identifies, when appropriate, that there are no contraindications to performing the x-ray and/or EKG on the adolescent, adult, or geriatric patient in the selected site, i.e. post radical mastectomy, shunt, etc
  • Properly and promptly processes all x-ray studies and results and follows through on results not received within a reasonable time frame.
  • Provides age related patient comfort during and after x-ray and/or EKG procedures. Demonstrates an understanding of the adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient's emotional responses upon the completion of the procedure.
  • Correctly utilizes age appropriate holds as needed to assure safe x-ray and/or EKG's for the patient when appropriate LIP orders are obtained. Obtains assistance when needed.
  • Maintain all safety procedures, such as appropriate shielding, using exposure times as short as possible to eliminate motion, leaving patients unattended, etc.
  • Properly processes radiology requisitions verify orders in question.
  • Dates, times, and initials all documents as required.
  • Follows aseptic technique 100% of the time, when required.
  • Knowledgeable of the information required for a patient order to be processed.
  • Demonstrates the ability to retrieve results from the outside facilities.
  • Demonstrates the ability to document pertinent information, results called or faxed, etc.
  • Models the I CARE standards of behavior
  • Maintains standards of behavior as established in the Organizational Ethics and Codes of Conduct Policy
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. Meets or exceeds expectations of patients, hospital and staff members, in person or via the telephone in the course of performing assigned accountabilities.

 

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Associate's degree.
  • Completion of an approved school of Radiology Science.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of 1 year behavioral health experience.
