Overview

The Chief of Adult Acute Care Services is responsible for assuring that the highest quality care, treatment and services are provided by all privileged practitioners. The Adult Acute Care Services Chief is
responsible for effective and efficient leadership of medical staff performance, Physical Therapy and Pharmacy responsibilities. Has knowledge of and meets the requirements of the Joint Commission, CMS, state, and other applicable regulatory and/or accrediting agencies. The Adult Acute Care Services Chief is responsible for clinical leadership and advice/counsel to the Chief Medical Officer, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Chief Executive Officer, Board of Trustees, Vice President of Patient Care Services and others as needed on all clinical affairs. This position also creates and maintains relationships with other academic, advocacy, medical, pharmaceutical and community based organizations on a local, state and national level.

Responsibilities

About the Role:

As Chief of Adult Acute Care Services, you will provide strategic leadership and oversight for all adult acute care programs, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of professionals, including medical staff, nursing, pharmacy, and therapy services, to drive clinical excellence and achieve organizational goals. This role reports to the Chief Medical Officer.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of medical professionals, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of clinical programs and policies, ensuring alignment with best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive continuous quality improvement initiatives, focusing on patient safety, outcomes, and satisfaction.
  • Manage the fiscal operations of assigned departments, including budget development and monitoring.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on strategic planning and program development.
  • Represent Carrier Clinic in the community and within professional organizations.
  • Serve as a key liaison with external regulatory agencies such as, Joint Commission, CMS, state, and other applicable regulatory and/or accrediting agencies

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

1. Graduate of an approved medical or osteopathic school
2. Has completed residency training in general psychiatry and/or specialty
3. Meets all other obligations as set down in the medical staff bylaws for membership on the Medical Staff
4. Meet continuing education and testing obligations as required by the state and for maintenance of
certification, as indicated.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
6. Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite
platforms.

 

Licenses and Certifications Required:
1. Medical Doctor License.

2. Drug Enforcement Agency Certificate.
3. Controlled Dangerous Substances Physician Certification.
4. Board certified or Board eligible in American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
5. AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification or completed in the first 90 days of employment.

6. Board certification in general psychiatry and/or specialty from the American Board of Psychiatry and
Neurology
