The Manager of Ambulatory Patient Safety & Quality acts as a strategic and collaborative partner to support quality, patient safety, regulatory, and high-reliability initiatives across the ambulatory continuum. This role collaborates with Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) and joint venture (JV) clinical and operational leaders to achieve transformational and sustainable improvements in patient outcomes. This position will use project and program management, process and system mapping, reliability science, data-driven strategies, evidence-based best practices, and quality improvement (QI) principles to drive results. The ambulatory continuum includes: a. Health and wellness centers b. Urgent care facilities c. Ambulatory surgery centers d. Physician practice sites (HMHMG) e. Diagnostics and therapeutics

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Manager of Ambulatory Patient Safety & Quality at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

 

  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the Network Ambulatory Patient Safety & Quality team, ensuring work is delivered accurately and on time.
  • Manages and assists in the recruitment, development, coaching, counseling, and performance evaluation of direct reports.
  • Creates and sustains an environment that fosters team member engagement and satisfaction.
  • Establishes clear team objectives tied to departmental and organizational strategic goals.
  • Effectively addresses team member concerns and promotes professional and personal development through continuing education and open communication.
  • Develops, implements, and manages safety, quality, and process improvement activities for the ambulatory setting.
  • Develops meaningful initiatives to advance the safety and quality program.
  • Guides the transformation and continual improvement within ambulatory services.
  • Develops innovative process improvement initiatives and creates detailed action plans to resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Facilitates compliance with clinical and operational quality initiatives.
  • Develops strategies to streamline data collection and analysis.
  • Collects, analyzes, and evaluates data on trends within ambulatory operations and quality, using results to recommend improvement efforts.
  • Prepares professional written reports and presentations on areas of responsibility, ensuring information is accurate, concise, and informative for the target audience.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of benchmarking, trending, and root cause analysis.
  • Provides education, training, and guidance to leaders and team members on safety and quality initiatives.
  • Maintains effective working relationships with other teams, serving as a resource for accomplishing organizational goals.
  • Develops cooperative and supportive relationships with HMH, JV, and community leaders.
  • Participates in professional organizations, attends conferences, and reads industry literature to enhance knowledge of best practices.
  •  Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office platforms.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Master's degree in a healthcare related field or business administration
  • Project management experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of Electronic Medical Records (EMRs), healthcare regulations, accreditation, quality standards, and patient safety.
  • Knowledge of performance improvement methodologies, statistical principles, and research methodologies.
  • Advanced informatics and analysis skills to plan, manage, and mitigate risk in process deployment and transformation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Proven experience building relationships and securing cooperation from a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills.

Compensation
Minimum rate of $156,062.40 Annually

HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members. The posted rate of pay in this job posting is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of our market-competitive total rewards package.

The starting rate of pay is provided for informational purposes only and is not a guarantee of a specific offer. Posted hourly rates may be stated as an annual salary in the offer and posted annual salaries may be stated as an hourly rate in the offer, depending on the level and nature of the job duties and credentials of the candidate. The base compensation determined at the time of the offer may be different than the posted rate of pay based on a number of non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to:

  • Labor Market Data: Compensation is benchmarked against market data to ensure competitiveness.
  • Experience: Years of relevant work experience.
  • Education and Certifications: Level of education attained, including specialized certifications, credentials, completed apprenticeship programs or advanced training.
  • Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in relevant skills and competencies.
  • Geographic Location: Cost of living and market rates for the specific location.
  • Internal Equity: Compensation is determined in a manner consistent with compensation ranges for similar roles within the organization.
  • Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered.

Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.

In addition to our compensation for full-time and part-time (20+ hours/week) job positions, HMH offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits.
