The Director of Nursing Education is responsible for the orientation, education and continuing education needs of the Southern and Central region. The Director of Nursing Education is responsible for the administrative, clinical, human resource management and professional development of the department staff. S/He will need to showcase demonstrated competency in the following areas: leadership, financial/operational performance, entrepreneur/business manager while maintaining and improving services excellence and clinical quality, educational training and facilitation of educational outcomes, competency utilizing current applicable literature and research. The Director of Nursing Education will ensure cooperative collaboration in roles and responsibility across all levels of staff, managers and administration is consistently demonstrated.
The Director of Nursing Education will be a change agent and make presence known through participation on committee and department meetings throughout the organization. S/He will provide necessary materials, documents and references that are appropriate to each agenda and is consistently prepared and willing to commit to projects that require attention. Exercises initiative and ingenuity, as well as leadership and professional skills in serving schools and community groups. S/He oversees the entire process and makes all necessary arrangements. Anticipates needs of those involved in the program(s) and is able to adapt to changes that need to take place.
The Director of Nursing Education utilizes the appropriate resources i.e., department staff, clinical staff, managers, administrators and other departments in the identification process and follows through to ensure desired outcomes. Contracts are handled consistently and the end results meet users' needs. S/He oversees the development and implementation of educational programs and tools that create a learning and high-performance culture dedicated to improved patient outcomes; collaborates across the continuum to influence the implementation of these programs in an efficient, precise and repetitious manner.
S/He will develop and implement strategies to establish/promote professional Nursing practice that is highly participative, evidenced-based, clinically excellent, and collaborative in nature. May act as primary nursing leader for implementation of new processes from an outcomes based perspective. Will lead or act as a major contributor to nursing activities relating to performance improvement, quality initiatives, patient satisfaction, and regulatory compliance. Will work closely and collaboratively with various nursing and non-nursing departments meet organizational goals. This role will serve as a transformational leader who exhibits professionalism, confidence, and inspires, motivates others to a higher level of professionalism.
The Director of Nursing Education manages and/or assists in the recruitment, development and supervision of team members. Creates and sustains an environment that fosters team member engagement. Establishes clear objectives tied to department and/or organizational strategic goals. Coaches, counsels and evaluates performance of direct reports. Involved in the development and/or management of budget for assigned areas. Regularly monitors relevant key financial indicators and performance metrics, modifying business activities where needed in response to changing financial situations. Track, analyze, and report on relevant data and metrics as needed and/or requested. Develop, recommend and/or implement actions or process improvements as appropriate.
Masters Degree of Nursing is required, PhD/DNP preferred
Magnet experience is required, Magnet appraiser experience preferred
Five (5) to Ten (10) years of related leadership experience is required
Licenses and Certifications:
Active NJ RN license is required
National Certification is required
