The chaplain, as a team member of the Palliative Care service collaborates with the Medical Director and other members of the interdisciplinary team including Palliative Care APN, Social Worker, or Physician, provides direct ministry of spiritual and emotional support to patients and families. All methods of palliative care shall conform to established written Hackensack Meridian system policy and procedure and be carried out to the highest achievable level of competence in a manner demonstrating concern and consideration.
Offers emotional comfort measures.
Possesses an awareness of the patient population taking into account the special needs and behaviors of all ages groups to include: geriatric adult, adolescent, and pediatric.
Demonstrates concern and desire to be helpful and supportive to patients, families, physicians and all members of the health care team.
Responds to emergency situations in the community
Supports and ministers to Leaders and Team Members
Integrates ministry efforts of volunteer clergy and laity
Attends weekly Palliative Care meeting as schedule permits
Performs other duties as requested.
Graduate of accredited seminary or school of theology
