Overview

The Hackensack Meridian Health Center for Discovery and Innovation (CDI) is offering a postdoctoral research position in the field of mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) applied to anti-infective drug discovery and development. The position will be in the laboratory of Dr. Veronique Dartois. The Dartois lab is interested in the pharmacology of antimycobacterial drugs, mechanisms of mycobacterial drug resistance, host directed anti-mycobacterial therapies and the immunology of mycobacterial infections caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Non-Tuberculous Mycobacteria. Key areas of focus include:

  1. Operate and maintain instrumentation (Solarix, Orbis and LCMs) within Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) and BSL2 facilities.
  2. Design and develop novel sample preparation methodologies to enhance sensitivity and maintain tissue morphology for drug, metabolite and lipid distribution studies.
  3. Tissue handling and cryo-sectioning within BSL2/3 facilities
  4. Data processing using a variety of vendor-based and open-source software.

The research program incorporates clinical, preclinical and translational research aimed towards eradication of infectious disease causing pathogens. The successful postdoctoral candidate will have a strong interest in utilizing novel analytical technologies for drug discovery and development. The postdoctoral fellow is expected to understand the project and work independently taking responsibilities in the development and execution of experimental procedures to successfully advance each research project. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparation of data for presentations, progress reports, and the preparation of manuscripts. The post-doctoral fellow is anticipated to have good communication and writing skills with a mind-set for collaborative research.
