How have you impacted someone’s life today?  At Hackensack Meridian Health our healthcare teams are focused on changing the lives of our patients by providing the highest level of care each and every day.  From our hospitals, rehab centers and occupational health teams to our long-term care centers and at-home care capabilities, our complete spectrum of services will allow you to apply your skills in multiple settings while building your career all within New Jersey’s premier healthcare system.

The Clerkship Director, Clinical Skills will oversee the clerkship that will help smooth the student transition from Phase 1 to the Phase 2 clinical setting. It is hoped that at the conclusion of the Transition Clerkship, students will feel better prepared and less anxious to start the clinical phase of their medical education. More specifically, it is expected that by the end of the Transition Clerkship, all students will understand the roles and responsibilities of a 3rd year medical student, know what information they need to obtain during an orientation session to a ward service or an outpatient clinic experience and know how to complete their tasks as medical students on an inpatient team, including how to pre-round, organize patient data, present during rounds, write H&Ps and progress notes, call consults, write prescriptions, and follow patients during their hospital stay. The Transitional Director will also collaborate with leaders of longitudinal curricular elements (e.g., Clinical Skills, Health Systems, etc.) as well as basic science educators to ensure that themes are adequately represented in the curriculum and properly integrated.
