Responsibilities

    1. Demonstrates an ability to effectively utilize the prescribed nursing process when providing direct patient care; implements nursing process in order to provide quality care based on assessed patient needs, utilizing knowledge of techniques and regulations appropriate to the ages of patients served
    2. Performs a physical-psycho-social assessment on assigned patients utilizing all available sources of information (i.e., patient, family, medical record, including knowledge of techniques and regulations appropriate to the ages of patients served
    3. Documents, within eight hours of patient's admission, in a complete, clear and concise manner, the initial form and subsequent assessments in the nurses notes. Communicates data with other members of the health care team. 
  • Formulates an accurate individualized patient care plan, on all assigned patients, within eight hours of patient's admission, based on nursing assessment and standards of care, care plan to include patient problem/need, expected outcome and nursing actions/measures. Based upon knowledge of techniques and regulations appropriate to the ages of patients served
  1. Modifies nursing care plan as required by the changing patient needs as required by the changing patient needs as determined by evaluation of cared administered by self and others; evaluates effectiveness of nursing intervention in achieving patient out-comes, continues patient assessment and documents evaluation in nurses notes
  2. Performs technical aspects of patient care according to established policies and procedures, utilizes proper techniques; adapts techniques to unique needs of individual patient; plans and coordinates patient treatment and activities on unit and with other departments to allow for optimal patient rest, utilizing knowledge of techniques and regulations appropriate to the ages of patients served
  3. Administers medications with knowledge of action, mode of administration, side effects and contraindictions; carefully orders, prepares, administers, and evaluates medication and intravenous therapy, utilizing knowledge of techniques and regulations appropriate to the ages of patients served
  4. Implements physicians orders after consulting appropriate sources regarding unfamiliar or questionable orders
  5. Documents patient's response to and effectiveness to treatments, medications and nursing interventions on the patient's medical record according to established procedures as outlined in the unit policy and procedures manual.

Qualifications

Current RN/NJ Licensures; Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; ; BLS, PALS, ACLS, IV Certification; One (1) year med surg experience preferred.
