The HIM Team Leader provides advance professional skills in the leadership and development of team members to work within a self-directed/empowered team environment. This applies to all HIM Team Leaders in addition to their job specific duties.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a HIM Team Leader at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Research Management:
    • Collects and analyzes patient and organizational data. 
    • Initiates appropriate action steps.
    • Data is researched and accurately prepared.
    • Utilizes proven methods and techniques to achieve results. 
    • Encourages team members to use a scientific approach based upon data to drive decisions.
  • Program Management:
    • Develops electronic data reporting tools and coaches team members to proficiently utilize the tools in performing their daily responsibilities.
    • Effective systems and processes in place that support clear communication, beneficial team behaviors and well-defined decision procedures.
    • Recommends opportunities for cost savings, team recognition and/or increased efficiency. 
    • Assures team members have the necessary materials and equipment. 
    • Identifies educational opportunities such as workshops, newsletters, etc.
  • Finance: Submits input to the budgeting process.
  • Productivity:
    • Guides team members through the stages of team development. 
    • Consistent, dependable and accurate in carrying out responsibilities to a successful conclusion.
    • Service delivery outcomes demonstrate consistent improvement. 
    • Utilizes proven methods and techniques to achieve results. 

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • To provide advance professional skills in the leadership and development of team members to work within a self-directed/empowered team environment.
  • Guides team members through the stages of team development.
  • Consistent, dependable and accurate in carrying out responsibilities to a successful conclusion.
  • Works directly with the HIM Manager to ensure day to day processes and productivity are met.
  • Works closely with Clinical staff to ensure compliance with HIM rules and regulations according to State Guidelines.
  • HIM experience in an acute care setting.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment.
