The Risk Management Analyst is responsible for investigating risk management potential and actual events, reviewing and analyzing events in the ONElink event reporting system, assisting with proactive risk management educational initiatives, working on various insurance matters, including professional liability, general liability and auto insurance matters. This position interacts with all levels in the organization along with the Enterprise Risk Management team toward the goal of improving safe and trusted healthcare. This position reports to the Director, Enterprise Risk Management.


A day in the life of a Risk Management Analyst at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  •  Investigates risks involving actual or potential injury to outpatients, visitors and team members.
  •  Provides statistical summary reports, including analysis and trends for incidents, potentially compensable events and claim payments.
  •  Represents the Enterprise Risk Management Department on various medical center committees as assigned.
  •  Participates in training of team members and inservices provided by the Enterprise Risk Management team.
  •  Assists with the review, investigation, follow up and closure of ONElink event reports.
  •  Prepares and provides statistical data, graphs and various other reports from the ONElink system for Enterprise Risk Management and other ad hoc requests.
  •  Responsible for additions and deletions of team member access in the ONElink system.
  •  Responsible for organizing the annual Enterprise Risk Management Week activities.
  •  Participates in Safety Huddles.
  •  Assists in the process of accepting Subpoenas, and Summonses and Complaints served to the medical center.
  •  Maintains the Enterprise Risk Management departmental On-Call schedules.
  •  Notifies the liability insurance carrier of actual and potential claims.
  •  Acts as a liaison with insurance broker for requests from various departments.
  •  Assists with professional liability insurance coverage process in collaboration with the Medical Staff Office, Human Resources and our insurance broker.
  •  Assists insurance broker and internal clients with insurance related requests.
  •  Investigates all incidents related to vehicle and property claims.
  •  Conducts annual background checks with the Division of Motor Vehicles for team members that operate the medical center's vehicles as part of their job duties.
  •  Responsible for scheduling and coordination of a Defensive Driving In-Service.
  •  Assist with development and updating of E-Learning Program for defensive driving, in collaboration with our insurance carrier, Chubb.
  •  Receives and investigates recall reports of medical device and product problems in collaboration with Purchasing Dept.
  •  Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.
  •  All other duties as assigned to assist the Enterprise Risk Management team and maintain daily activities of the department.


Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  •  Minimum of Associates degree in Business, Insurance or related field or at least 5 years of related work experience 
  •  Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  •  Strong analytical and communication skills.
  •  Knowledge of legal and medical terminology.


Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  •  1-3 years of experience in risk management/insurance experience preferred.
  •  Experience working with Insurance Brokers and representatives preferred.
