Overview

The Physician's Assistant assists, monitors, and manages the day-to-day needs of patients as requested by, in conjunction with, and under the supervision of a physician. We are looking for a physician's assistant (PA) who is interested in helping grow our pediatric epilepsy surgery program which is already the largest in the state and one of the busiest in the Northeast.  This individual would work a job that is part clinical and part administrative.  On the clinical side, we would expect an active team member to take part in 1) assisting in operations, 2) rounding on epilepsy patients on the floor and ICU, 3) seeing new patient consults, 4) writing orders and helping with patient care and working closely with Dr. Luke Tomycz of pediatric neurosurgery and Dr. Eric Segal of pediatric epileptology.  On the administrative side, we would expect someone who would 1) take part in epilepsy surgery conference, 2) act as a patient liaison in moving patients through the presurgical work-up, and 3) help in research and quality improvement efforts to build surgical volume.  Spanish proficiency would be a huge plus.  Prior experience in ICU or neurology/neurosurgery would be favorably viewed but not required.  We hope to truly bring in a member of the team to build an exciting and meaningful program!

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 1. Successful completion of an approved physician's assistant program, accredited by the AMA Council on Medical Education. Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: Spanish speaking. Licenses and Certifications Required: 1. Physician Assistant License. 2. Certification by the National Commission for Certified Physician's Assistants (NCCPA) within one year of initial employment by the Medical Center.
