Overview

Waste coordinator is responsible for the pick up, processing, and recording medical waste.

Responsibilities

  • After the Medical Waste Coordinator picks up the medical waste through out the facility he must put it in the microwave to convert it into regular waste.
  • Sweep and mop the hallways.
  • Ensure all carts are properly cleaned and sanitized.
  • When the dispatcher sends a page to go to rooms and specific areas the Medical Waste Coordinator must remove full sharps and replace with an empty. (Only on occasion due to an outside company regularly coming during the week to change full containers throughout the hospital.)
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Must have knowledge or be willing to be trained in how to operate the Medical Waste Microwave.
  • Medical Waste Coordinator experience in a hospital environment preferred.
