The Donor Relations Manager serves as the lead for donated/partnership event tickets, donor recognition and non-principal gift acknowledgments, within Hackensack Meridian Health Foundation's network Donor Relations department, which provides stewardship support to all hospital foundations and entities tasked with fundraising for Hackensack Meridian Health. Reporting to the Executive Director of Donor Relations, and also working in close collaboration with the Director of Donor Relations and the Donor Relations Coordinator(s), this position provides essential support to the Donor Relations department, helping to build and maintain a comprehensive stewardship program that improves donor retention and fosters trust and loyalty among our donors.


A day in the life of a Manager of Donor Relations at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:


  •  Leads HMH donated/partnership event ticket process, which includes collaborating with foundation fundraising teams to fill event seats and high-profile interaction with CEO and HMH leadership, board members and top donors.
  •  Manages network donor recognition, including plaques, pin letters, donor walls and digital recognition. Tasks involve extensive project management, vendor collaboration, proof production, rendering coordination, inventory management (including Giftmap program), communication and coordination with facilities teams; updating and proofing annual donor listings, maintaining content on digital platform (TBD); and developing for mock-ups for fundraiser meetings and proposals
  •  Oversees a donor-centered, best-practice acknowledgement process for donors between $10,000-$999,999; drafts custom thank you letters for donors at this level, tracks and enters actions. Collaborates with the Director of Donor Relations, who may draft CEO and CDO letters to the same group.
  •  Collaborates with Strategic Events on Principal Gift Recognition Events & Capital Projects, serving as the Donor Relations event stewardship liaison. Tasks involve ensuring recognition signage in place before the event, managing gratitude book/photo book/gift(s) for primary donors, researching and suggesting unique and meaningful, personalized gifts; may involve being on site for the event and managing additional special stewardship efforts for major and principal gift donors.
  •  Provides project management direction and support for annual stewardship projects (e.g., Gratitude Report, postcards, tax statements, campus impact reports etc), as well as special projects as they arise.
  •  Assists with creative stewardship projects, which may include but is not limited to design work, creative gifts, videos, etc. Brainstorms with Donor Relations team to develop creative ideas and designs for various print, electronic and video media, may involve photoshoots and video shoots in some instances; assists with design/layout of custom impact reports and eblast templates.
  •  Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  •  Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.


Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  •  Bachelor's Degree in related field from four-year university or college.
  •  Minimum of 3-5 years of related experience.
  •  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  •  Adaptability and flexibility to take on new challenges and projects.
  •  Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, PowerPoint, as well as able to gain proficiency with new software and programs, including Google Suite


Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  •  Fundraising and/or nonprofit experience preferred
  •  Experience in a healthcare setting at a large multi-hospital system.
  •  Experience working with Raisers' Edge and RE NXT.
