We are seeking a detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Data Integrity Specialist. In this role, you will support our Health Information Management (HIM) team by reviewing and analyzing patient data and medical records. This position provides administrative support which includes the retrieval, scanning, and quality control functions of medical record chart processing. In this role, you will promote and champion the accuracy of medical records to ensure that patient care is delivered in an efficient and timely manner. 

*** This is a full-time day shift position scheduled to work Tuesday - Saturday. ***

Responsibilities

As a Data Integrity Specialist at Hackensack Meridian Health, you will:

  • Accurately analyze medical records for document deficiencies while meeting established accuracy and productivity standards.

  • Focus on quality control of documents, ensuring that all medical records are complete, accurate, and information is not duplicated. 
  • Follow up on missing information and transcribe reports in order to facilitate the chart completion process.
  • Collect information to analyze, verify and generate data for regulatory compliance as needed.
  • Schedule dates, time and location for upcoming audits. Provide summary of audit activities to appropriate Health Information Management (HIM) leader.

  • Retrieve medical records in a timely manner to facilitate patient care for hospital operations.

  • Prepare medical records for scanning with a focus on accuracy and productivity standards.

  • Accurately support the Medical Staff chart completion process through collaboration with physicians and other hospital staff. Assists outside physician practices with correspondence.

  • Adhere to HIPAA guidelines.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • High School Diploma or educational equivalent.
  • Good organizational skills, with orientation to detail and accuracy.
  • Good written and verbal communication; including the ability to work interdepartmentally.
  • Strong technological savvy - comfortable working with computers, scanners, copiers, and printers
  • Ability to work independently.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Knowledge of EPIC and Google Chrome applications a plus.
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
  • Experience in health care or related field.
