The Lead Pharmacy Technician, Medical Records & Facility Billing will be responsible for three major functions in the pharmacy department and will report to the Pharmacy Billing Manager. The time will be spent equally between each of the three functions. They will be responsible for leading the medical records department, ensuring that all necessary orders are entered and profiles are updated before printing of the facility records. They will organize and lead facility billing operations. They will oversee the medication returns process within the pharmacy. They will be responsible for training new Billing Clerks and Pharmacy Data Entry Specialists on their roles and responsibilities.


A day in the life of a Lead Pharmacy Technician, Medical Records & Facility Billing at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:


1. Enter and review all medication and treatment orders for patients residing in facilities utilizing paper medical records.
2. Manage the process of printing all physician order sheets, medication administration records, and treatment administration records, while delegating tasks to other pharmacy team members assisting with the process.
3. Oversee the billing process for all charges that are the responsibility of the nursing facility being serviced. This includes establishing a monthly schedule and assigning tasks to the Billing Clerks assisting in the process.
4. Generate and review all end of month Facility bills and reports for groups of facilities assigned.
5. Manage the pharmacy¿s medication return and credit processes. This requires ensuring that adequate resources are available to process the returns in a timely manner as well as processing a majority of the returns for credit.
6. Ensure that medical records received from each facility are properly filed and conduct routine audits of the storage of pharmacy records.
7. Create and submit weekly/monthly composite billing for assigned groups of facilities.
8. Organize and fulfill all Medical Record requests received throughout the month.
9. Oversee Medicaid Pending report and rebill process for the Billing Department.
10. Train new Billing Clerks on Facility Billing Functions.
11. Train all new Pharmacy Data Entry Specialists on medical records processes.
12. Projects as needed.


Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

1. High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
2. Minimum of three (3) years of long-term care pharmacy billing experience.
3. Minimum of three (3) years of long-term care pharmacy medical records experience.
4. Excellent customer service and phone skills.


Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

1. Long-term care experience.
2. Two (2) years of experience with Framework LTC.
3. GSuite (Docs, Sheets, and Gmail) proficiency.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

1. Pharmacy Technician License.
