Responsibilities

 

  • Provide well-constructed  lessons that meet the requirements and the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards (Common Core) for an academic subject.
  • Track Progress of students in academics, record information and communicate information to teachers, other staff and administration on a daily basis.
  • Prepare lesson plans that reflect a logical sequence of learning objectives and activities that reflect the National and New Jersey State curriculum standards.
  • Assesses and monitors students’ progress frequently and by appropriate means, feedback, and modifying the lesson as needed.
  • Reports accurate and relevant information regarding student progress and achievement at conferences, IEP meetings, drafts PLAAFP’s, on report cards, on progress reports and to administrative staff as needed. 
  • Maintains positive and appropriate relationships with students.
  • Implements student-related intervention plans and other plans related to the daily operation of the program as directed by an administrator.
  • Maintain work folder/portfolio of student work to represent accomplished assignments in the In-School Suspension Environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; Minimum three (3) years’ experience as a Teacher

Preferred Special Education teaching experience with adolescents.

NJDOE Academic Subject Area Certification (preferably Teacher of English or Teacher of Mathematics); 

NJDOE Teacher of the Handicapped/Teacher of Students with Disabilities Certification required and/or willingness to obtain.

NJDOE Criminal History Review.
